I visited Brickmaker's Cafe for the first time today and I am so glad I did. I sat at an outside table overlooking the water. Every table had an umbrella so I got to enjoy being outside without sitting directly in the sun. It was so relaxing!
I ordered a sliced turkey club sandwich which comes with cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on Texas toast. It comes with kettle chips (Miss Vickie's brand bagged chips, not house-made) with the option to upgrade to a side salad or fries with an extra charge but I opted for the chips. I selected a can of Coca-Cola from the open-shelves cooler. I was concerned the drink wouldn't be very cold, but it was nice and cold and refreshing.
The sandwich was fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed it. The bread was really good. It was both toasted and soft. The lettuce and tomato were really fresh and the rest of the ingredients were great, too. My only quibble is that there was really too much mayonnaise on it, and I say that as a person who loves mayonnaise. There was so much that it made the sandwich slippery and the ingredients kept sliding out. But this is a minor issue and didn't really bother me. Next time I will ask them if they can put less mayonnaise if I order a sandwich.
The drinks are served in cans and bottles and it was nice to discover, at the end of the meal, that I could recycle my soda can. Not every eating establishment that sells canned and bottled beverages does this, so I was really glad that I wasn't simply throwing my can into the landfill.
Restrooms are available on-site and though the trash can in the ladies' room was very full, the restroom was clean and had plenty of paper towels, soap, and toilet tissue.
Brickmaker's Cafe provided a nice little break for me in the middle of the day and I plan to return again, next time...
Read moreWell it's certainly Brickmakers Cafe. I'm certain the Belgian waffles I ordered were a 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, on the same level as a diamond. I came here for brunch with family, and a few things threw me off right away. One, the line was very long and barely moving. Two, you could only get bottled water, not a cup of water like any normal restaurant or cafe. While the menu looked amazing, the food and service were lacking. It took over half an hour to even order, and then we had to repeat the order to the cashier several times because while we were ordering she turned and talked to her coworker every few seconds. Anyway, we got our number and sat down at our table. It took way to long to receive what we ordered, and when the food finally got there it was cold and hard. The presentation of our meal was beautiful, but the actual execution was lacking. The breakfast potatoes had zero taste, I wouldn't be able to cut my waffles even with a butcher's knife, and I had to resort to picking them up and crunching my way through them. One of my family members received a solid, cold brick of a quiche, appropriately named for the cafe. Overall a very unsatisfactory experience, and we probably won't...
Read morePros: • Food was ok, not extremely “OMG, this is so good!” It was just ok. • Location is great • Free Parking Lot
Cons: • How expensive the food me and my companion ordered was. I mean seriously? Two entrees, a side, and two drinks costs $44? I think it’s time for you all to discuss and lower your pricing.. • Employees not wearing name tags, so no proper way to address them. The only person that was good at his job was Hassan T. So props to Hassan! Thank you for being a friendly person! • No manners from employees, not good customer service. I went in to ask for a box as I was taking leftovers home, and the two female employees at the registers just gave me a blank stare before giving me what I asked for, then I said thank you politely. Didn’t get a “you’re welcome” or “have a nice day. Thank you for coming in!” Manners go a long way and can make the person’s day a bit better so please train your employees on using their manners.. they do have clientele that come in with disabilities and the...
