Zorba’s Grill in the heart of Occoquan’s historic district is a gem for anyone craving authentic Greek and Italian-Mediterranean flavors. I stopped by for dinner last weekend, and the cozy, welcoming vibe immediately set the tone for a great meal. The outdoor patio was perfect for enjoying the evening breeze, though the indoor seating looked just as inviting with its warm decor. I started with the Mediterranean Sampler, which was a hit—crispy cheese borek, tangy dolma, and a fresh Greek salad with creamy tzatziki tied it all together. For the main course, the lamb kabobs were a standout: perfectly grilled, juicy, and packed with flavor. My friend raved about the chicken souvlaki, and the portions were generous enough to feel like a steal for the price. We couldn’t resist the baklava for dessert—sweet, nutty, and just the right amount of flaky. The staff were friendly and attentive, though service slowed a bit when the place filled up. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, as the food more than made up for the wait. My only nitpick? I wish the menu had a few more vegetarian options, but the falafel and Greek salad were solid choices for non-meat eaters. Overall, Zorba’s Grill is a fantastic spot for a relaxed meal with bold Mediterranean flavors. I’d recommend it for a date night or a family dinner. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try their...
Read moreWas walking around the Occoquan area, and saw Zorba's, so decided to give it a try with a friend. Unfortunately, was quite disappointed.
The Food: I went with the Chicken Souvlaki for my entree, and a Gazpacho for my appetizer. I was disappointed with how little effort they put into making the dish. I paid over $20 for a dish that was plain and bland, with very few pieces of chicken. The meat was cooked nicely though, tender. But for somewhat premium prices, I would've expected a little more effort into the dish. The Gazpacho tasted fine, but again, overly priced appetizer for a little amount of food.
The Service: Service was decent. We were greeted when walking into the restaurant, and was sat down immediately. The staff were very nice and friendly, but the service itself wasn't on-par. It took longer than usual for our food to get out, and mind you, it was not busy during lunch. But our patience ran thin after about 35 minutes and when we saw the food, it was quite frustrating.
The Atmosphere: The restaurant is nice and small. Has a decent amount of seating and is very well kept/clean. It's nicely decorated with simple decor. There's outdoor seating as well, if the weather permits.
Overall, a 1/5. Not a fan of how overly priced the food was, compared to the quality and quantity of...
Read moreMy friend and I went to Zorba’s Grill to feel the Greek atmosphere and eat Greek food. Unfortunately, the old owners sold the restaurant to a Turkish owner. We expected to listen to Greek music, especially the Zorba’s song since this is Zorba’s restaurant. Instead we had to listen to Turkish chocheks, music ℹ completely dislike. We asked the waitress to change the music. We are not sure if she understood though she got angry. She did not speak much English and the music remained the same. Next was the musaka for my friend- not tasty at all. I ordered baklava and Greek coffee. Instead, I got normal American coffee in a 50 ml coffee cup and half of it was coffee remains. For 20 ml coffee liquid I paid over $7. This made me really mad and decided to post this review for the next clients who would expect Greek food and music but would get Turkish. I advised the lady to change the name of the restaurant if they want to expose Turkish culture through music and food. This way the clients wouldn’t have wrong expectations. Completely disappointed! We only wasted our time and money on a Sunday day when we wanted to relax listening to Zorba’s music and have Greek coffee with the typical aroma. I will never ever visit this place again! Too bad! It was one of our...
