In mid-June, our 10-member family went to Ocean Isle Creamery on a Thursday evening. It was very busy here and the business next door. Lots of people everywhere!
The ice cream was so good - rich and creamy and very flavorful. We all enjoyed our treats and glad we went. We may have even started a new family tradition!
The line for ice cream was almost to the door yet it moved reasonably fast. When we reached the counter I could see their efficiency.
There were many flavors to choose from and three people doing the scooping. Each person had their designated flavor to scoop. When you asked for a flavor, the scooper in front of that flavor did the scooping. If you asked for two different flavors like I did (and they were at different ends), two different scoopers did the work. This meant that there was no extra walking around or bumping into each other. Ice cream was scooped and served fast - ready to pay, get out the door, and eat it outside.
I never felt rushed.
I did appreciate their high level of efficiency.
We'll be back next year for...
Read moreDespite havingpoor experiences elsewhere, this is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write a review. Firstly, there's poor icecream variety a total of 12 flavors and maybe that wouldn't be a problem is it was any good. Since I didn't see a flavor I liked, I decided to get a brownie sundae. The ice cream it's self was gooey, not creamy, and lacked any actual vanilla flavor and the brownie was STALE. Finally the price it was was insulting for the quality of ice cream. 17$ with tax for two of these good awful sundaes. Youre better of going to the publix down the street and buying a quart than getting ice cream here. I'd imagine if this place didn't have prime real estate in a tourist area, it would be out of business by now. Seriously this is the worst ice cream I've ever...
Read morePlease avoid this place. We pulled up and decided to brave it. This business is not following CDC social distancing guidelines, even while in Phase 2 of reopening. There are Xs on the ground to mark 6ft distances, but they are not enforcing this. No staff are wearing masks, no gloves. On top of it, they were using iPads to do tip— didn’t clean them after use. We watched them file people into the building in tight quarters after we left. Also, one staff member touched the ice cream with her hand when she put the spoon in the cup.
Yes, it’s the beach, but the virus is still around. If other stores are doing their job in social distancing, you should be too. It’s your duty to help stop the spread...
