Do not waste your time. Staff and food both horrible. We went in with our two small children. Ordered cheese fries and they came out burnt and dry. Put in our order and 40 minutes later, asked about the status. The waitress said she’d go check and didn’t see her for another 15 minutes. She finally brought out our kids food and the chicken strips were burnt to a crisp (as is held under a heat lamp for too long) and the Mac n cheese was unidentifiable. The waitress then said the other food was coming. We were so fed up and kids were upset from waiting so long that we asked for a manager. The manager with the long black hair and tan skin, didn’t catch a name as she came over with a full attitude and didn’t even greet us, proceeded to be the rudest manager I ever encountered. We told her what had happened and said “well what do you want me to do about it?”, with major attitude. Luckily my husband spoke because I woke have told her where she could have put that burnt food. Anyway, we walk up to the counter to pay for the disgusting appetizers we managed to get and the rude female manager tried charging us for our entire order. I spoke up to say we were only paying for what we received. She didn’t say another word and walked off with our credit card, came back 10 minutes later with a receipt for us to sign. I said “um excuse me but this receipt says nothing about what we were charged so what exactly are you charging us for? This receipt just says X amount of dollars”. She then rudely told me. Walking out the door, she yelled in the most demeaning manner “have a great day because I know I will”. I gave her a thumbs up and said “good for you”. We were not the only table walking out at that point. In my opinion, if someone chooses to be a manager, that manner is unacceptable. We did nothing wrong in this situation and we will NEVER be back to that place. I can not believe that manager handled this situation the...
Read moreA friend recommended this place so we decided to try it out. The hostess greeted us by saying "Are you guys just drinking? Or are you drinking and eating?" I thought that was a really strange greeting to begin with. She tried to sit us at a table right in front of the entrance door so I asked if we could sit at another table which I pointed to. She rolled her eyes and reluctantly seated us at the other table. The table was dirty and had a film on it. Appetizers were bangin OIB shrimp with OIB sauce and a basket of hushpuppies($5.99) with homemade whipped honey spread. The shrimp were really good and actually the best part of our meal. The hushpuppies were not good at all. When they arrived they were missing the honey butter. The waitress then told us they were out of it along with any other butter as well. Had we known we would not have ordered. We went ahead and tried them with ketchup. They were hard, really dense and dark. Either fried too long or fried in oil that needed to be changed. Easily the worst hushpuppies we have ever had. You would think that if you don't offer hushpuppies as a complimentary side with dinner and have them as a menu item they would be excellent. My wife and I took half a bite from one each and could not eat any more. Drink order was a house margarita. Very sweet and could not taste the tequila. I ordered the ahi tuna tacos which did not have much flavor at all. The tuna was sliced in mini thin type strips and did not taste fresh at all. I ate one of the two served. Wife had the fried fish with a side of mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was good and the fish was ok, not much flavor but a nice sized portion. The bar was very busy and the inside was loud, just hard to have a conversation. Had the food been better, the establishment been cleaner and the hostess been pleasant I would bump the...
Read moreThere are only about four restaurants on the island, and I’d suggest any of the other three over Pelican’s Perch. We had a party of 6 adults, nothing big, this past Thursday (Aug 5) at approximately 6:30 PM. It was a little busy inside and they wouldn’t give us a wait time for an inside table, so we took an open outside table. The hostess was friendly and got our menus quickly (she’s the only reason this wasn’t a one-star review). When the waiter finally showed up, he couldn’t have cared less about doing his job. He didn’t give us his name (long dreads and lots of tattoos on his arms) When asked if they had wine, answered with a simply “Uh, yeah.” No elaboration. When asked what kind, all he said was “Red and white”. He had no idea beyond that what they carry. My brother ordered a few appetizers for him and his wife as their meal; Dreads assumed that was all that being ordered for the table, took the menus and started to leave until we told him we all wanted food. He didn’t write anything down, so of course things were wrong/missing when the food was brought out. It took multiple requests (when he finally came back) to correct order. He was not outright rude, but he put zero effort into trying to create even a decent experience for us
Drinks -The red wine that was ordered was old and had clearly been open for a couple of days. My wife ordered the Gatorade mixed drink, tasted like nothing more than watered down purple Gatorade. I got the Pineapple Punch/Pineapple Splash drink. It tasted like pure pineapple juice, no obvious hint of alcohol. Also, although it was 80% ice, it was warm. My guess is that there a jug of it that just sits out on the counter instead of in the fridge (obviously, that is an assumption and I can’t prove it)
Food Mediocre at best. The price wasn’t bad, but the...
