Manzano’s — Restaurant in Ocean Township

Tonight was our second and last visit. We came about a month ago and had a terrific dinner. We ate early and in the pizzeria on the counter side. Tonight however, was something else. Don't get me wrong pizza is still really good, so if that's what you want order takeout and call it a day. Dont bother sitting down like its a good restaurant. Gonna try and keep from ranting too much more and do this list style.

-Dining room was dirty, flies swarming around, kept buzzing us while we were there. Tomato sauce stains all over the ceiling like someone dropped a container and it splashed but no one could be bothered to clean it up. -My napkin silverware roll had a stain on it from somebody or something else. -All three glasses of water we got had somethings floating in it. -Service was ok at best, apparently there were people from the restaurant next door eating dinners in the pizza place? -We ordered our pizzas at 5:35, got our pizzas about 6:10...35 minutes for 2 pies when everyone else in the dining room had their food within 10 mins of us sitting down seems a bit much.

First things first. Service was spot on,our server was excellent. Now the bad news I had pizza here right after that opened and it wasn't that bad,I enjoyed it,but they were kind of still under construction and I told myself I would come back when they were all settled. I finally had the opportunity to come back and as soon as I saw the Pizza I told the people at my table "what the heck is this",it was so not even close to the pie I had when they first opened. They advertise as Brick Oven Pizza It is not I took a look at the oven and the pizza is cooked on some sort of rotating device in a timed fashion. No skill involved in that The dinners coming out of kitchen looked very nice,but the pizza was such a disappointment. I Love Pizza and travel all over trying different styles and different methods and have reviewed so many pies and I don't know even how to explain the texture of the crust "disgusting ",sauce and cheese were tasty Do not advertise Brick Oven if you are cooking pizza just like Domino's It hurts having to write this review But as always I would ask you to try it for yourself, your opinion might...

Went on a Friday night at 5 so expected to wait. The appetizers & drinks came at normal time. But the pizza wait was 2hrs. They can only cook 4 pizzas at a time & ended up getting slammed. When we brought it up to the waitresses they just kept saying 10 minutes. Obviously not their fault. We almost walked when the owner came over, apologized & told us the ticket got lost. This kept it from being 5 stars. But from the moment he walked away the pizza came out in 5 minutes, piping hot & it was spectacular. I recommend ordering the White Diablo pizza. Also, if you go on a Friday or weekend try take out or sit before 7 because they'll get so busy they stop taking orders. They're short staffed so I try not to be too harsh.
