Szechuan House — Restaurant in Odessa

Update: We revisited and they have improved the sweet and sour, and have better rangoons! The food was PIPING hot, great fast service, low key restaurant. Love this little hidden gem. Still pricy but portions are great. Can usually get 2-3 meals total from leftovers. So I would say it’s worth it. I did order it through door dash one day, they included extra sweet and sour for free per my request! Thank you!!

Went here for dinner because my husband tried the one in midland for lunch and liked it. Used to eat here when it was Tokyo express, but had never went inside. Upon walking inside I was a little blown away how nice it was. Anyways, our server was very kind and attentive. We were disappointed to find out the soup doesn’t come with dinner only lunch? That’s odd. I got the orange chicken and my husband got the Mongolian beef. We also got the overpriced crab Rangoon appetizer. They were pretty good but the sweet and sour sauce was too watery for me, and like I said they were a few bucks over priced compared to most places. The orange chicken was average, good sauce however the chicken was VERY dry and there was a handful of pieces I couldn’t eat because they were so hard. I also got the fried rice, it wasn’t very good. Tokyo express’s rice was much better to compare. We both shared the app, got two sodas, our meals and both got fried rice it was over $60 to eat here. Very overpriced for the quality. I tasted my husbands beef and it was pretty good, had a bit of a charcoal flavor but otherwise not bad. I also requested my chicken to be spicy, and nothing was spicy. I did have to use the restroom, there were some issues with toilet paper being stuck, toilet looked nasty, and no paper towels. So I think they have a few more kinks to work out, and consider lowering the prices or they probably won’t last long either. Overall, I would give them another chance and skip...

First time eating here yesterday. Just moved here from Dallas about two months ago. The food was delicious. Very surprised as I haven’t found a good Chinese place in the area.

The kicker was the service. I ordered through DoorDash for pick up because that’s the service I typically use. When I got there I was asked if it was a DoorDash order. I said yes and was told to sit down. I am guessing she thought I was a door dasher and not the person who ordered it and picking up for myself because she was terribly rude.

The order came out. I ordered multiple entrees as I was trying out the food and I asked for soy sauce. I was given attitude by the woman at the counter and was then given two packets of soy sauce for three entrees, two appetizers, and a soup. I guess if you are a door dasher you are treated like crap here regardless of the end user experience. Going forward i should just know to keep soy sauce at home because the soy sauce nazi is not giving out soy...

Best Chinese cuisine in Odessa and it’s not even close. My go to is chicken and broccoli (medium spicy). I like that they use what looks to be Jalapeños for the extra kick. The chicken and broccoli are cooked to perfection and its tastes exactly the same every single time. This leads to me to believe it’s the same chef or all of their cooks are very consistent on the ingredients and preparation. I’ve tried the egg drop soup and wonton soup and they were delicious! Also have tried the crab Rangoon and loved that too. They even poked holes in the container to allow the steam to release so the puffs didn’t get soggy. I love this place and I go at least once a week but, probably two tbh. I haven’t tried anything else but, if anyone likes chicken and broccoli, I recommend it highly! Oh btw, I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my to-go order to be ready. If you like Chinese food, you HAVE to give this...
