Tio Gordo's — Restaurant in Odessa

First I want to mention that I deliver food for DoorDash almost everyday and I go to dozens of restaurants in Odessa / Midland. When I say it’s a pleasant restaurant to be in , it really is. Aside from the big gentleman at the register. He was super nice and patient with the woman in front of me. I guess since I’m not a lady he can get sassy with me. Anyway I ordered a barbacoa burrito. With cilantro and onions. With a side of salsa verde / green sauce. The tortilla was really good. Very buttery tasting. I thought it was a bit much for my liking but it was good. The portion of meat and the size of the tortilla, along with the flavor of the meat is very underwhelming. Especially for almost 9$. Also asked to make sure I was getting the spiciest salsa I could possibly get. I was assured I was getting the spiciest sauce they have. It was not anywhere near as spicy as a spicy food lover would like it. Also the salsa lacks flavor. That salsa is definitely inspired by Mexican cuisine , so for it to not be spicy and flavorless kinda takes away from the “Texican” name that is. For all the new faces coming into Odessa from different states, if you love spice , flavorful salsa , big portions worth your money and awesome service. DONT COME HERE. The location, awesome sign and dining space they have is cool though. That barbacoa burrito was about 9$. You can find better ones , with more meat in them , fresh pico de gallo with awesome salsas in other places for almost half that price. I only won’t mention the locations to not take away from how much better they are. Also I’ve had the tacos here before. They’re not good as other places.if you come here regularly it’s not for the food. It’s for the atmosphere and maybe cause they’re your friends , very easy to tell. I wish them luck. And I hope they can bring back the Mexican in Texican with better salsa and more flavorful meat. Im done...

Bobby is amazing but we still probably won’t be back.

At first we only didn’t like queso… then we ordered the Gordo Sampler 2 and the nachos had the same queso. The queso was like a melted Kraft single. GAG! The host/food runner Violet was so rude when we told her as if she was personally offended about what we said about the queso. We even said the Kraft single thing trying to make it lighthearted… funny even and she was fuming …like girl. It’s not even your personal fault why are you getting sassy and waving your arms all around at me. AND this isn’t even Velveeta I know nobody worked real hard on this queso. No one should be offended but us because you served us this. Then we asked for the manger and she told me “yes sir” GIRL ARE YOU FR… If anybody should be mad it’s me period. The manager never came …until Bobby the bartender noticed and came to check on us. He was ready to find a solution but the manager who didn’t even introduce himself was ready to shoo us out. On our way out Violet was side eyeing us and ran away from the host counter. Not very demure or mindful… very much giving Karen. This place is HORRIBLE. For a plate of food, two "kids meals", one combination burrito and the 2 drinks it was over 35$. The portions were absolutely NOT worth the price at all. And neither was the food itself. It tasted awful, plates come with extra stuff not listed, so I didn't know to exclude that from my plate. (Should be all written for in case of allergens.) The building is way too small for customers to sit anywhere in there without someone blocking your walk path and the workers were rude about me asking for my plate to be fixed and have things removed from it. And none of them were aware of their surroundings to the point they kept walking into people over and over. Me being pregnant, I didn't appreciate being squeezed against a wall to not have a plate of forks and food slammed into me from someone not looking up. And the bathrooms needed to be cleaned for the women's. I can only assume the same for the men's. 1/10. Will...
