Mac's Place — Restaurant in Ogemaw Township

Good selection of food, unfortunately, hardly any of it is any good. I got full order sausage gravy and biscuits w side of bacon and large choc milk. Sausage gravy was the skimpiest I've ever had. Had to sift thru spoonfuls of gravy to find minscule slivers of sausage. 3 tiny biscuits was also a letdown. Choc milk was 1.99 for lg...which came out as a 12 oz glass...extremely disappointing. Bacon was plentiful, 6 pieces for 3.25, and thick and not bad tasting, but also not cooked evenly. Some slices were undercooked and burnt all at the same time. My gf got steak and egg breakfast w hashbrowns...I felt horrible for her. Her steak, ordered medium rare, came out seared/burnt on the outside and the inside was at least medium well if not well. She complained it was watery and had no taste. Her eggs were dark brown outside and not done inside. Hashbrowns were same...burnt out and not cooked inside. Grill must be turned up way too high as orders are churned out quickly...less than 10 minutes, if not quicker. Was very disappointed as the wide array of selection and overall decent service gave me high hopes. Also there were only 3 other tables of customers during our visit, so really hoped for better quality. Don't see how this place is so highly rated. I can say for sure we will not be back. Also for 2 ppl ordering 1 regular drink apiece and only getting one extra item [side of bacon], $24 seems very expensive for biscuits and gravy and...

Place was/felt small and stuffy had to squeeze by people who where trying to enjoy their meal, it made you feel like you were disrupting them. Our food was done super fast like on the table in under 5 min fast. My mother order blueberry pancakes, I ordered a wet burrito and I got oatmeal for my 8 month old daughter. The main dishes came to the table the pancakes and burrito but not the oatmeal so after a few min our waitress was behind us cleaning a table and my mom asked her about the oatmeal. The waitress was extremely rude, she said "I have to cook it" then walked away. When I opened my sour cream and it was discolored and old looking on the top I asked for a new one and instead they just scraped off the top but still left some of the old nasty stuff behind. My burrito was cold and they put old chilli over it that had old burnt pieces in it. I ended up eating the oatmeal. We left no tip and that's a big deal for us my sister is a waitress, my mother and I have both waitresses in the passed and understand what it's like but the lady was rude and services were poor! My mom said her pancakes were good and bathroom was cute and clean. Over all it was not a good experience. I read all the other reviews and wonder what went wrong that day considering most of them were very good reviews! Might try it again but I doubt it, was pretty...

This evening my husband and I planned to have a great meal at Mac's. We haven't been there for a few months and always loved the all you can eat fish dinner. Placed our order and when it arrived the fish looked different, we thought they had changed suppliers. After the first bite I waved down the waitress to explain she had written on our bill cod dinners and we ordered the all you can eat. Totally different and higher cost. She was very matter of fact that we were wrong and she was right, no apologies for the misunderstanding. My husband and I both went over and over ordering still we were positive we had not said Cod. We never order Cod. When paying our bill we again attempted to discuss the error, the waitress took our money and again was very rude, insisting she did not make a mistake. It will be a long time if ever that we go back. Always great service and food in the past, ruined by one employee! Good luck not getting her for a waitress if you go there.
