Anna's Cookin — Restaurant in Ohio

I don't remember when I've had such amazing food! We are not at all familiar with Puerto Rican food, and of course here is me with all my ridiculous questions about ingredients (gluten free/dairy and other food sensitivity issues)... The young man who waited on us was able to answer all my questions confidently and make a few suggestions. Everyone working there seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's obviously a family affair, with a little one running around and all ages working together. While we waited for our food a lot of customers came in and out, and you could tell they have a lot of "regulars" - then, there was another couple like us, first timers, and there was the young waiter to explain the whole menu and answer all their questions with a smile! From start to finish a great experience. But, I'm pretty sure the actual food was my favorite part! We will definitely be back! Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention - if you're into leftovers, one could easily get two meals out of a dinner here, which also makes the prices...

My husband Alan and I moved to Youngstown about a month ago, and being a chef, we love to try "mom and pop" type places, and stand-alone eateries that are not chains. We saw this little place and the parking lot was pretty full, which is usually a good indication. We ordered the meatloaf sandwich, and it was terrific. The portions are huge...I have yet to eat a meal there and not take home half of it. The prices are crazy-reasonable, but the best part about the awesome experience is Anna and her family. They are so pleasant, care about the patrons, and of course, are very involved in the delicious production of food. My absolute favorite meal so far has got to be the porkchops. Seasoned to perfection and so juicy...again so much food with two chops and a side. Very craveable! If you haven't been to Anna's Cookin', you are missing out on a...

Update: Since Anna’s open I have been there on multiple occasions to where I have tried almost everything on the menu. I go in place my order and sit and watch her cook all orders as they come in. All are made to order so unless you order ahead and don’t show up then that’s on you cause I’ve gotten my food drove home and it’s been so hot you can barely eat it.

I’m here to say any review that is a 1 star is not a legit review. Nothing in her kitchen has ever been premade. I’ve watched ever meal I order be prepared as I’ve waited.

I’m so glad Austintown has a wonderful home cooked restaurant right here. We love you Anna and as always we will be back.
