I have been on the hunt for a good Mexican cuisine restaurant for a while now. I was told this place had excellent street corn so I definitely needed to give it a try. We took our kids and we're definitely glad we did! I ordered the street corn dip, Jason's tacos and horchata. The horchata was absolutely perfect! Served in a tall, chilled mug and perfectly seasoned with cinnamon. The street corn dip did not disappoint and is the best street corn I have had in a long time outside of my own kitchen. The chips were slightly salted to perfection and delicately crispy. The tacos... oh the tacos! The meat was so tender, juicy and the toppings were so fresh and flavorful. The tortillas were delicately crispy and thin without tearing apart. My kids had cheeseburgers and ate them so quickly; my daughter said it was the best burger she had ever had. Their fries; again delicately crispy and they were almost creamy on the inside. My husband, who ordered fajitas said his meat was tender and nicely seasoned. The veggies were perfectly sautéed and the tortillas were very nicely toasted.
Service was top notch. We were seated and served in a timely manner. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My son spilled salsa on his coloring page and they replaced it for him without us even asking.
The music was very good; I had a hard time not wanting to dance in my seat.... I did a little. The booth seats are a little narrow and uncomfortable but it was worth sitting in them for all of the reasons above. Otherwise decor is fun and entertaining with plenty to look at. The fighters masks are very cool and unique.
All in all, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Definitely try...
Read moreI’ve been here twice, and my experience has been consistently enjoyable. Last time I had three house tacos; al pastor, grilled chicken, and ground beef. I’d not had breakfast that morning, and I didn’t need dinner that evening as the food was quite filling. This time we had Street Corn Dip, Queso Dip, Arroz Con Pollo, three House Tacos (al pastor, grilled chicken, and carne asada), the Macho Funnel Fries for dessert, and some horchata. The house tacos (street taco style) are so packed with meat you can barely close them when you eat them, and the cilantro and fresh onion are not at all overpowering. Each meat has layers of flavor. The Arroz Con Pollo was heaping, and the rice alone was so flavorful I could eat a bowl of just that. The street corn dip was aromatic, flavorful, and delicious. The queso dip had a very subtle zing, with a barely perceptible hint of citrus (possibly lime?) and was pleasingly flavorful. The Macho Funnel Fries were delightful and fun. The horchata was sweet and cinnamony (that might not be a word, but it most accurately conveys my meaning). The portions were hardy, and we took leftover Arroz Con Pollo and Street Corn Dip (we had to save room for the dessert!). After the meal, my wife and I agreed that everything we tried was excellent, and that the best way to describe the food in general was with the phrase, “layers of flavor”. Lastly, Marcus, our server both times, was pleasant, attentive, and hospitable; he even offered us chips to go home with for the leftover dip! I enthusiastically recommend this...

I knew from the moment when I sat down and tried the homemade salsa and chips I was greeted with that I was in for a treat with this restaurant. El Taco Macho promotes themselves as "authentic street quisine" and it definitely does not disappoint. The menu has a great variety of authentic styles of meat choices and dishes. The food is fantastic and super flavorful. The tortillas are homemade. The kitchen obviously takes pride in the food they prepare and takes time to plate their dishes with good presentation. The carnitias I had was fantastic, tender, and cooked to perfection. They even put a freshly and perfectly roasted whole jalapeño pepper on the beautifuly presented side plate of toppings. (Like who takes the time to do that? Definitely an A+ in my book.)
El Taco Macho is located in a shopping plaza near the Lake County fairgrounds, next to Marc's. The outside is unassuming but the inside is a jem of a restaurant. It's nicely decorated and they play plesent traditional Mexican background music on the speakers inside. My only criticism is the booths could be a little more comfortable. However the food is outstanding and I definitely will be back.
If you're craving some tradational Mexican food, tacos, or a burrito take the time to drive to El Taco Macho. They will not...
