Warning: This is a Novel, almost. Good places to eat in OKC are hard to find and deserve detailed reviews when you find them.
Me and the wife eat out probably more than we should. Steak is what I usually get and usually it's Texas Roadhouse because they are the most consistent reliable steakhouse in the quality of their food and their service. Micky Mantles, too expensive for not any better than Roadhouse, Saltgrass is a crapshoot of either great or terrible, Toby Keiths is too expensive for the quality, Cattlemans is garbage, Cimarron is Garbage, and that pretty much sums up the steak options in OKC... until Now.
Bills steakhouse, I live right down the street and I have driven past this place a million times and thought it cant be any good there isn't a wait to get a seat. I've never seen a line out the door anytime I have driven past. The wife wanted to give them a try so this evening we did. There were about 20 cars in the parking lot.
We were immediately seated, not a good sign, right? Our waitress was fast, efficient, polite and didn't mess anything up. She wasn't annoying and didn't hover like most do but she just seemed to materialize out of nowhere when we needed something. This woman is a real waitress. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it is what it is. My glass never reached half empty (yeah I'm that kind of guy). Our food was out on the table in about 20 minutes, just about 5 minutes after we were done with the chips and queso.
I got the 12oz Ribeye with a Loaded baked potato and the wife got a burger and fried okra. We both had Dirt Water (Unsweetened Tea).
The Dirt Water (Unsweetened Tea) = not overpowering not watered down and definitely made today. Believe it or not most restaurants cant even get the dirt water right.
The Steak = Holy hell where you have been all my life you sexy beast??? I've never had better, seriously.
The loaded baked potato = The bacon bits tasted weird so I picked it off but the rest of it was amazeballs, not overcooked, melted butter and cheese. Best tater in town guaranteed.
Wifes burger and Okra = It was gone before my meal was and she usually picks at her food like a bird. Must have been good?
Total price for this experience was $40 something bucks.
Tipped the waitress a $20 cause waitresses this good don't grow on trees in Oklahoma. I'm sorry I didn't get her name she was a small brown haired thing.
Cooks name started with a "K" maybe Karina or some such. She needs to continue in this profession she has talent.
If you have read this far, you might as well give this place a shot, cause I got me a new regular...
Read moreWent here for our first time tonight for our 20th Anniversary based on recommendations from friends. Our overall impressions are as follows:
Service: 5 Mixed Drinks: 5+ Steaks: 3.5 Sides: 3
The mixed drinks were spot on and were what we paid for. That is HUGE in our book. The Service was great from the moment we walked in. The steaks (ribeye), while not top end, but were not bottom end, were cooked right, were seasoned well, they were moist, and had good flavor, even though they were a little on the 'thin' side (Sorry, but we used to raise cattle, and know the difference). The sides... well, I had the onion rings, and while they were big, they were frozen and not fresh, and it showed... BUT, they beat the ever living heck out of any fast-food restaurant around. I mean, considering they were obviously frozen rings, I cannot complain about their size/quality/price (even though I'd hoped for fresh). My wife had the grilled vegetables, and she said they were good.
Overall impression: For the price, heck yeah we would go back. We felt the value for the money, especially considering the mixed drinks and service, was great. Considering we were recommended this place for our 20th Anniversary......well...... it lacked a little... ok, maybe more than a little. But we didn't walk away totally disappointed either. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't go back here for our 20th anniversary, and I wouldn't recommend others to go here for their anniversary unless they are working on a budget. But for a good overall steak dinner with decent sides and a good mixed drink, yes, we like it. The setting was good, it wasn't overly loud, the service was great, the meals came out in a timely fashion and were prepared right.
All in all, given the price we paid, we have no complaints. We have paid WAY more for WAY worse (Looking at YOU Logans!!!). Will we go back again? Yes, but not for any future anniversaries. :) All in all, price vs quality, plus the drinks, ambiance and service, we give...
Read moreI am very disappointed in this experience. We decided on this place because it was a local, not a chain. We both ordered the ribeye and loaded baked potato and a to go order of ribeye and shrimp. We also got two appetizers and two mixed drinks. The fried mushrooms were tasty but just regular pull from a bag frozen and drop in a deep fryer tasty. Our service from our sweet, young waitress was great. The idea that there was no complimentary bread and we had to pay extra for a baked potato or house salad was a bit disappointing but we still had high hopes. Our steaks came quickly and we were very hungry. But the disappointment came with the first cut. The meat was so fatty that neither of us could eat it. It literally had no flavor but fat and grease and it was served with a side of plain toast. The loaded potato we ordered was just a regular small potato with a dollop of butter and sour cream and a very few sprinkles of bacon and a few shreds of cheese. I brought my steak home to my dog. He seemed to like it. $120 bucks for potatoes I could have pulled from a 5lb potato bag at the grocery store, meat that was literally unfit to eat and some toast. I mean, the Angry Apple Pie drink was nice, mostly ice, but good. Never Ever Again! Straight YUCK! I have never had meat that bad. Super low quality gross meat. So that’s why I went to a steak restaurant. Left me feeling mildly nauseous from the grease on what I attempted to eat and MUCH too light in my wallet for the garbage that was served!, 🤮The picture is of my sister in law’s steak. She eats hers medium well so much more of the fat was reduced but still thin and fatty. I already fed mine to the dog. It was cooked rare and rather than red inside it was mostly gelled white fat. I wish I had taken a picture of that one first....
