Bistro 38 Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

Had dinner there with 3 others. Fresh spring rolls were good, and truly fresh. They were out of my usual favorite, chicken satay. I ordered the green pad Thai and it was a big disappointment, literally swimming in a sugary sauce that tasted like watered down maple syrup; bet i could have drained off half a cup of it…I did tell the waiter and the person cooking that I didn’t like it, snd why, and was told by one to add some hot sauce and by the other to try something else next time. I have the definite impression they’ve changed out the cook as well as the menu. The mango drink was very underwhelming. I’d come back for the spring rolls and the (hopefully not reinvented) satay. The place is immaculately clean snd everyone is very nice but nobody offered to exchange the green pad Thai dish I told them I didn’t like and I got a bill that included it. I have loved their pad Thai in the past but this was something quite different. Conclusion: thumbs up for spring rolls if you like a lot of fresh carrot, lettuce, and fresh cilantro ( I do). When walking in I do feel a sense of depression, no music, felt as if something was deceased. The service was a bit appalling, more understanding on the wait could have balanced both service and to go orders with no problem. After about 10 minutes of waiting beverages finally came, I was about to drink my water untill I noticed a noodle in my water. After ordering and waiting 15 minutes customers came in to eat, they were not greeted but questioned if they wanted to dine and sounded unsure if they wanted them around to eat over hearing if they wanted to go somewhere else to eat, should practice more on being confident. Once the food came out it's was competent but the smell was a bit odd something to reminds of wet dog. I believe they are going to need a waiter for night shift because it simply was to much for the man to focus on all, I believe it needs a bit of balance on both service and to go orders. Food tasting flavorful but could use a bit work for it...

I just had a prejudiced experience at this restaurant. I have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past and came in to place a to go order as there was no answer on their phone line. When I walked in, the server working there looked past me to the white couple that entered the restaurant after me to seat them. Then she rudely asked if I was there for an order pickup. At which point I told her I had not ordered yet. She assumed that I was delivering food and not directly patroning their restaurant and clearly in her mind, not deserving of common courtesy. As such, she felt it was acceptable to ignore me and serve customers who entered the establishment after me because of the color...
