I came to visit OKC for the second time this past weekend for our annual girls’ trip/birthday celebration. This had been planned for months and I was super excited. Our friend/planner/#girl did an amazing job as always. She and her assistant had everything planned from Friday until Sunday with only one wrench being thrown into the mix. Our friend is very meticulous in everything she does and selecting “the” best food is always the top of the list. She was very excited and raved about the food that she had tried previously from Chef Dee’s Creation’s and was excited for us to try as well. The first sign of the wrench came a few hours before the food was to be delivered, Chef Dee called to confirm the time of delivery and the order. Enters “we don’t have Dirty Rice; we can send Peach Cobbler”. We did not need Peach Cobbler as we had cake and cupcakes being delivered as well. He texts, not call back to let the friend know that he will have the rice prepared and send it “to make things right”, seeing that the order placed 2 months ago included the rice, sending it was absolutely the professional and right thing to do. He was then asked how we would be able to differentiate between the 5 flavors of chicken wings; he responded with “check the website!” The wrench is halfway out at this point. The young man arrives with the food…. No hello, good afternoon BUT ask for the friend by her first name. He walks in wearing a T-shirt and gym shorts; a company shirt would have been a great way to represent Chef Dee’s Creations. He brings the food in places it on the countertop and leaves without a ‘thank you, have a good evening or a simple enjoy. The entire wrench is exposed at this point; the Cajun Chicken and Shrimp pasta with Alfredo sauce was not what we received; it was very poor tasting mac-n-cheese with sprinkles of chicken and even less shrimp. The wings seemed to have been cooked earlier in the morning if not the night before, the sauces were placed on top of a few pieces and the feathers were on just about every piece. The Dirty Rice should have been forgotten and left at the restaurant. The rice was not fresh, there were huge pieces of ground-meat that was burnt, a cup full of jalapenos in the middle, and chunks of bell pepper. The Cajun corn had unmelted butter placed on the top with a sprinkle of seasoning on very few pieces. The rolls had no butter and honey only on the bottom; honey butter rolls was not in the pan. I really wanted to like the food and was excited from listening to my friend and how excited she was for us to try it. Only for all of us to be disappointed. We had to come up with plan B for food and carried on with an evening that was great, hence that wrench thrown didn’t stop us. I hope that Chef Dee takes this critique as a learning experience and makes the necessary adjustments for the betterment of his business. Communication, good customer service, and professionalism takes a business a long way. In the food industry, you have to make sure what you are serving is what you would want your loved ones as well as yourself...
Read moreAs a caterer and educator, I love to hear about and partake in culinary experiences. This past weekend, I traveled five hours for a girls trip birthday celebration. I was looking forward to relaxation, laughter and delicious food. The relaxation and laughter were more than I could have ever expected but the food left MUCH to be desired.
On Saturday, as we meticulously decorated for a meal fit for a queen, we were delivered food unfit for human consumption. Furthermore, the young man who delivered the "food" was a poor representation of a business and was extremely unprofessional.
In all my years of catering and even simply cooking for family and friends, I have NEVER seen such awful food. There were huge chunks of bell peppers, jalapeños and burnt beef in a dish described as Dirty Rice. We received a dry chicken and tail-on shrimp mac-n-cheese that was described as Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pastalaya. It was not creamy, not Alfredo and definitely NOT cajun. The "Cajun Corn-on-the-cob" (that we did not order) was also NOT cajun but instead just basic boiled or microwaved cobs of dry corn with butter on top. Yet another disappointment. Surely one of these dishes was going to be edible! Next, I looked at the chicken wings. The order called for five different flavors of wings but I could only detect three. Many of the wings had no seasoning or flavor. ALL OF THE WINGS WERE IN THE SAME PAN!! Even if we had received five flavors, how were we supposed to taste separate flavors when everything was intermingled? Last were the honey butter rolls. How could you mess up bread? Apparently quite easily. The bread was extremely sticky and there was no sign of butter. The rolls were all stuck to the bottom of the pan and took true elbow grease to remove.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I pride myself on patronizing the businesses of those who appear to work hard and produce a great product but I cannot say I had that experience.
It is my hope and prayer that this young man and his restaurant take time to listen and read the comments of their customers in the hopes of making changes that turn the business around allowing it to become an establishment that everyone would want to...
Read moreWe decided to have our girls trip in Oklahoma City this past weekend and I went on websites looking for people and I saw that this place had some decent reviews and so I came into Oklahoma City and went by the establishment. I tasted the food and it was pretty good when I went in to taste the food, but what we got was not what we ordered or deserved. Some photos are included. The wings did not have sauce as you can see, but plenty of feathers. The Cajun butter corn, looked and tasted like it was popped in the microwave and just added regular butter nothing Cajun about it! Let’s talk about the dirty rice with the burnt meat and all the jalapeño peppers in one scoop, it was not edible AT ALL!! Let’s not get started on the Cajun Seafood Alfredo Pasta, we got Mac n’ Cheese with cut up chicken tenders in it with a few shrimp, no Alfredo sauce but plenty of cheddar cheese, and a little hair for added flavor. Honey butter rolls taken straight from the bag and drizzled with nothing, just look at the photo. I’m thoroughly disappointed that we spent $600 on this mess. We ended up having to get food elsewhere. Let’s also talk about the customer service. It SUCKED! Chef D was horrible with communication and responsiveness. Very unprofessional. I’ve been a business woman for 22 years in customer service, and just on customer service alone I wouldn’t frequent or recommend the business. The delivery driver did not speak to any of us when he entered the house with his shorts and slides on. No shirt or clothing representing the company. Left the food and on the counter and did not say goodbye when he left. I’m glad we kept that tip. The whole experience was trash and a big let down sprinkled with disappointment. I’m hoping this review is a teaching moment and used for growth. I wish I could rate the experience a...
