Gulfport employees and the owner do not take responsibility for their screw-up. We were so excited that we had folks visiting us and I called on Tuesday and some lady said to call on Wednesday and place the order to pick up either Friday or Saturday. I called on Wednesday and placed the order, and gave them the name and the phone number. I asked for 20 lbs and he said it comes in 30-32 lbs. I said fine and I told him we would like to pick it up on Friday. He said no problem. My husband went over there on Friday and they said the order was never placed and they kept going back looking for it. They made it sound like we never called in to place the order. They obviously gave it to somebody else and not taking responsibility. What's the point of taking orders and they can't even get it right. Does this happen often at this place? Then the owner made a big appearance and asked the same bloody questions, what name and number were given during the order. He didn;t care. We had people looking forward to it and we even started cooking. They don't deserve to be in business!!! Get this, apparently this has never happens, as in orders don't get placed. They are a bunch of liars, Unscrupulous!!....
Read moreI hadn’t been to Gulfport in quite some time. My son wanted sone fresh fried catfish. In times past I would only buy “fresh” catfish from Gulfport. So I went to Gulfport to buy “Fresh” catfish. I walk in to the counter and ask for catfish fillets.
#1st Red Flag The guy behind the counter grabbed the tongs (bare handed) and proceeded to p/u fillets bare handed touching other fillets & placed my fillets on the scale. 1st he didn’t wash his hands NOR did he wear gloves. I asked him if he wore gloves and so “no” kinda offended that I even asked. The other guy behind the counter kinda chuckled. Hands should be washed prior to serving. At the very least gloves should be worn we handling fresh food.
I knew something had changed at this market. But I was like maybe these are new owners etc.
2nd Red Flag I began looking around and noticed it just wasn’t as nice and clean as I remembered. I looked up to the ceiling directly over fresh fish counter and so many lights are burned out, filthy covers with 100’s of dead bugs etc. Amongst other things.
I won’t be going back for ANYTHING.

Read moreAfter waiting close to an hour and coming back for the 3rd time this morning (Gulfport seafood opened about 30 minutes late from their advertised hours) there was no fresh seafood on display over ice. I asked how I was supposed to see what I'm ordering and they said it would be "awhile", but I could go ahead and buy it. Um, I'd like to see what I'm buying. I drove 45 minutes to wait 30 minutes after they should have been open to find that there was NOTHING on display for people to buy except frozen fish.
