Las Palmas is going to receive a solid 3 stars. I arrived with my wife and decided to try something new for a Mexican restaurant. When we got inside filled with really good music and musicians the place looked great!! Service was good ladies dressed ok and the server we had tonight was really nice and polite she was also teaching a new girl I assume by standing next to her and helping her with the order. Over some time after we placed our order we noticed that when they have down time they sit down at another table near the bar. (To be fair the restaurant did not have to many people surprised for a Friday night) Around 7:30p.m ish. When the food arrived we did notice that the portions seem a little lacking in regards for the amount of whats on the food and inside. I got the "Mexican burger" and almost looked like a "American burger" for the most part regular meat, melted cheese, onions and mayo. In my mind I was expecting a big cut bread in half toasted, with chopped meat, mayo, sausage, onions, avocado, and ham. My wife got the chimichanga, came with meat cheese on top and side of rice and beans. Meat was good and the tortilla overall just tasted as if it was missing extra flavor and something else inside of her chimichanga. We then decided to order some drinks the shots were good got the tequila don Julio, the beer on the other hand was off. We order two dos Equis we were expecting the draft as it is shown at the bar. We then decided to watch due to myself like watching the pour of the beer not the bartender. To my surprise we noticed that the bartender once finished pouring from a set of glasses a tad over half. Figured that you could get some more since your paid for a frosted glass that's taller than the beer and it seems as if so the beer your ordered was cheated in some way and could have gotten it cheaper at the gas station. Never the less this is not to be rude towards Las Palmas more as to prepare others for what they may expect when coming here. I feel as if it's more of a bar with small snack food rather than a restaurant in my opinion. My last statement will be this ," I am no food critic and not someone important to judge, but rather a person to leave an honest review for others to read this and see that someone has taken their time to leave a detailed review than criticize the small things inside of this food establishment. Our first time being here of course others will be upset on how we can leave a review but it's true when they say first impression are remembered." I hope you are careful on when you decide not try this place as a first. . Ps the prices seem a bit unreasonable for...
Read moreFood was just ok. Hubby got the nachos with carne asada, cheese was scarce, and he needed magnifying glasses to find the meat😂. Drinks where good (Kudos to the bartender) patio area is cute. They added a 15% tip on my bill automatically and then asked if we wanted to give any extra tip on top of that. We regularly tip 20% so it was below of what we usually tip but it's our choice. Having someone making that decision for us and adding an automatic tip and then asking if you want to add an extra 10% or 20% not sure how I feel about it. I do understand automatic tip is use for large parties of 6 or more, but not just for two people and most places will have it posted upfront, unless they're trying to be sneaky and deceived the customer. Definitely staying away...
Read moreSo we are huge San Marcos fans. We tried switching it up… We regretted it. Had to pay for queso , strike 1. Kids meals were small and 7 dollars a piece. Strike 2. Food selection isn’t great and didn’t have a taco salad. I won’t give them a strike on that tho…. Let that slide. But they had one server!!! We were there for 2 hours because the lack of service. My server was great and I tipped accordingly because I knew this wasn’t his fault but that’s on management! Strike 3! Strike 4 was there were no complementary sopapillas! Strike 5, well food was just ok. Not worth our bill of $70. Family of 5 with all waters, the cheapest appetizer, and 2 beers that should of been cheap but weren’t and some Barbie size kids meals and...
