Shartel Cafe — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

We used to eat here on average maybe two Sunday's a month, but we don't go anymore. The problem is that on Sundays there is this guy who comes when they open at 10AM and pulls together three large tables and just sits there literally for an hour by himself until after church and around 11-11:10 the rest of his "party" shows up. The problem is that folks are waiting at the door for the place to open at 10 and the place is entirely full from the get-go. I mean it infuriates me to stand there for 30 minutes with three little kids waiting for a table when the whole time this man is just hording these three large tables. My whole family and four other parties could have eaten and been gone by the time his party gets there. I have brought it to the owners attention multiple times recommending an order-first policy then be seated only to be told 'sorry'. In reality it's just really not a problem for them, but sadly I just won't go...

This was out first time visiting. We walked in and stood at the door for a few minutes and no one said anything so we assumed we were supposed to seat ourselves. Then we sat at a booth for a few minutes and one of the customers told us we ordered at the counter. I saw no sign telling us to order at the counter. It’s a sit down cafe so it would make sense for the waitress to take our order at the table. So after approaching the counter the person taking our order was very curt and impatient....borderline rude. I even apologized to her and explained that we hadn’t been here before. It didn’t seem to matter as she was very impersonal and short with me. Everyone else we interacted with was very polite and actually very sweet. I don’t want to hurt a restaurant’s rating based on one employee. But this person does not need to be the first person a new customer interacts with. The food is amazing! The bacon is probably the best...

Loved it the first time! Plan to go back soon. It's getting four stars because last time you went they had a chicken jerk sandwich with pineapple on it. The sandwich ended up having little to no flavor as far as the chicken goes and the pineapple was in a cream cheese spread and there was hardly any. They did try to help by giving us more cream cheese.. But a chicken jerk sandwich needs to be actual jerk chicken and not chicken breast that has no seasoning or sauce. Staff is great and love the homie calm atmosphere...
