Ukoni 9JA Cuisine — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

First time my husband and I ate at Ukoni 9ja cuisine, my husband had poundo with Oha soup and i had poundo with egusi soup. my husband loves Oha only when it’s homemade and he is very picky when it comes to eating out. Did I mention that when he ate, he ordered extra and was impressed with how she made her Oha taste so fresh, authentic and delicious. In hubby’s words “it’s finger licking good.” I have since ordered Oha soup as takeout and hubby is still so impressed with the taste and authenticity of this food. Btw my egusi soup was 10/10. Will definitely be eating here more often and the kids love her food as well. This is a hidden gem packed with flavor.

First of all, I had no idea this place was here. I was picking up pizza for the kiddos and saw goat meat written on a window in the same shopping complex… after doing a lot of missions work in Haiti, goat became one of my favorite meats.

I walked in, and the kind young man behind the counter introduced me to this new Nigerian restaurant.

Most of the dishes were new to me, and they all had the option of including goat, so I was happy. So I decided to try the stew. When I ordered they preceded to make the dish fresh from scratch…

The wait is ridiculous. I was told 25 minutes and it’s been over 40 now. By the time I receive the food I ordered for lunch, it’s going to be dinner. And poor customer service as well.

The food was not it. Okra stew was excruciatingly spicy I couldn’t even take a full bite. The yam was not great. The stew with the chicken was so oily they might as well have given us a bottle of oil. You can’t substitute any items. A side of jollof rice is $12.
