El Saguaro Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Olathe

We have been going here for years! It’s been a great go-to place for our family of 6, especially during Taco Tuesday. We recently went and it was one of the WORST experiences we have ever had!!!

I don’t usually post bad reviews because I understand that these businesses are very reliant on their reviews to stay open, and operate.

We arrived and there were NO CUSTOMERS ONE IN THE RESTAURANT. They had 4 people working from what we could see. We ended up seating ourselves. The waitresses were sitting at a table on their phones and rolling silverware. The waitress who served us brought menus and we explained that we would like to just do tacos. She brought us chips but claimed they had no salsa, so she said she had to go make some. We ended up getting our tacos before we ever got the salsa. One waitress brought one of the plates and one of the tacos tipped over and got food on my husband. She didn’t care one bit. There was no sense of hospitality for that nor any other time. Once we received our plates, we weren’t asked how we were doing. It got to a point that anytime we needed more chips, salsa etc we had to walk up to the staff (all were on their phones) and not once did they seem to care. We came off as a MAJOR inconvenience to them. Mind you, our bill ended up being over $75!!! We still managed to tip, even though it was NOT earned. Years and years of Loyalty to this establishment, ends now.

Side note…. I used their restroom before leaving and they had NO SOAP. I witnessed at least 2 staff use the restroom(including the cook) great to know they aren’t washing...

My coworkers and I ordered lunch from this location last Friday, as we've had great luck and enjoyed the restaurant's food in the past. Unfortunately, that opinion changed entirely after our recent experience.

We all ordered carry out online, with over an hour for the restaurant to prep knowing there were several orders and likely a busy lunch rush. Our representative went to gather our orders at 12:30, and was told "nothing is ready, come back in 30 minutes." Understanding that staffing is tough in all businesses, he left and we determined another person to return as directed. They returned shortly after 1pm, and were again told none of the orders were ready. They waited an additional 30 minutes for the orders, and had a less-than-ideal interaction with the staff member.

This all could have been overlooked if the food wasn't terrible. Half the items were cold and one could deduce they had been sitting since 12:30, certainly not freshly cooked when picked up at 1:30. The ground beef was charred bits and there was barely enough to consider a portion of protein in 4 flautas. Although freezing cold, the queso did warm up well and the chips were enjoyable. Small redeeming factor.

The most disappointing part of this all is that we were unable to contact anyone to voice our concerns to after multiple phone call attempts, and that we spent well over $120 of our hard earned money (combined) for most of the food to be...

We came for a Taco Tuesday last week, as we frequent many places in Olathe for taco specials. We were greeted and sat at a table. We decided to take our order to go. We ordered 8 tacos and 2 margaritas with a double shot of tequila. When I went to pay, I noticed the tab was a lot higher than I had calculated. I used the kiosk to go through the order totals and noticed 2 things. We were charged the full drink price for an extra shot in the margaritas and the subtotal did not add up. We let the cashier know it was not adding up. I attached the receipt…Does it add up to you?

The process of getting our money back The cashier had to call the manager to give us a refund. The manager suggested that I pay another payment of the corrected price and they would then be able to refund my money in full from the previous transaction. I let them know that I would absolutely not be making another payment to compensate their error. We were told the manager was not available at that time and would fix it the next day. As soon as we left, the manager notified the cashier that she could not refund the card due to her pos system and we would need to come back in. Imagine by now our food is untouched and not quite piping hot. We suggest that they give us a cash payment and leave the pos system alone to be fixed on their own time.
