My unfortunate and expensive experience with the website: I decided to take Proviticas as hostess gifts for my upcoming trip. I logged into my account and the only shipping address that showed was a family member's to whom I had sent Provitca several years ago. I called Strawberry Hill and a completely bored and disinterested person transferred me to "Tracking". It went to voicemail. I needed to get this task done, so I went back to the site, deleted the incorrect info, added my address, was sure to click on "Ship to Billing Address", saw that the page displayed everything correctly, placed my order and considered the task done. And yet, several days later my family member, at the address I had deleted, received the shipment, $160.00 worth. I called Strawberry Hill and explained that although I changed my account info it went to the wrong address. She told me it was my fault and there wasn't anything they would do and it didn't matter if I clicked on "ship to billing address" or not. She then sarcastically told me to have a nice rest of the day. So, despite deleting the wrong info, adding the correct info, and the final page just before "place order" showed the correct info, it went to the wrong place. They have a wonderful product but I have to wonder how secure my card info is and do I want to deal with people like this in the future. No.
Your response to my review implies you offered me a solution. You did not. I was told it was my fault and nothing was offered. If you were to post the exact transcript of the phone call, not your revised recollections, it would confirm everything I've said! Furthermore, after receiving a very snide email following my review, telling me I needed proof that I had changed the address, I logged into my account on your site. Well, neither my family member's name nor address appear but mine does. And yet the product was sent to the wrong address. In the phone conversation I was upfront with you and said I didn't check the confirmation email. Since I had changed all the info and the final page on the order had the right address, I didn't think I needed to. Why would it be charged to my account and then sent to an address used several years ago?!
So, everyone out there, be...
Read moreLast month I visited Strawberry Hill Povitica for the first time in over a decade. I remember them being a unique baker and a local favorite. We had moved out of the area and recently moved back. Sadly things have changed.
The bread was a little disappointing due to it being dry but otherwise very decadent. There was a variety of flavors available to try and purchase. A beverage station was provided to refresh your pallet between taste samples. The presentation and display were outstanding and eye catching. The facility was spotless and inviting. Beautiful building with ample parking.
The service, however, should be rated a big fat F with a zero-zilch on the stars! The lady at the register was rude often answering questions (I had) using the well known sarcastic tactic of answering a question with a with a question. She did this blatantly several times as she eagled eyed me trying samples. I got the feeling she was deliberately trying to make me feel uncomfortable. Why? I do not know. It was about 30 mins till closing and I did have a groupon so maybe it was a combination of both those things. With a non-smile blank expression she condescending asked (as if on default), “Do you need a box?”
… not customer oriented…
“Would you like me to box those for you?’
… but …
“Do you need a box”
…aka…
“Are you really going to make me spend one more minute on you along with money on a box??? can’t you just walk out of here right now and stop wasting my precious time”
It was uncomfortable and just downright weird. It is rare, if ever, I have experienced this level of poor customer service. Seriously I contemplated that perhaps she wasn’t in her full capacity and part of some sort of work program. Unfortunately I think she was a bad management choice and a reflection of why there literally was no one else in there, lots of (dried) shelved packaged bread and now grouping for new customers.
My advice is to move this lady away from customers and to a more appropriate job were she is not a reflection of your company and/or first contact with customers.

Read moreMy first order was an early self-isolation wish for something to treat myself with. I usually stick with local food (I'm in CA), but since I was having everything shipped, I thought I'd try the ENGLISH WALNUT Povitica and the CINNAMON CREAM CHEESE Coffee cake.
The shipment arrived very nicely packaged with plastic wrap over sturdy cardboard shipper with printed strawberries on it (very cute!). The items were in perfect shape and very fresh!
LOVED them both! The Povitica isn't the lightest thing, but not heavy, either. Stayed moist without being gummy or sticky. It was easily sliced. I froze portions of both cakes and they were great after freezing, too.
I ate the Povitica sliced and micro'd with some butter, and it was just wonderful.
The coffee cake had lots of cinnamon and cream cheese. Also not sticky or gummy; so on the dry side--but still with some moistness in the cake (which was also on the solid side), which was balanced by the cream cheese. It was richer and sweeter than the Povitica, but fantastic with morning coffee!
So I made a second order to try the APPLE CINNAMON povitica. This was also very nice. Very like the walnut, but a little more moist and less textured from the apple. Again--rich, but not too sweet or too spiced. And dough not mushy and not too dry.
Strawberry Hill accidentally sent me TWO povitica! I contacted them, willing to pay for the welcome surprise (I froze it), but of course they were too kind and wished me to have it free.
I really love their treats and will keep ordering even when I'm out of self-isolating! They are not diet foods, but the ingredients of apple, cinnamon, and walnuts are good...
