Initial experience was nice. The people seemed nice and Pastor Llyod is a very genuine man. I cannot deny the good works that this place does but when it comes to judging others, this place falls short. I had heard through the Grape vine that Karen Pulley (Llyods wife) would interject herself in the business of others, but I brushed this off as I did not want to be one to judge. As time went on, I had experienced this first hand! The ironic part about this is that Karen is very quick to judge someone and lash out without even knowing any real facts. Pastor Llyod preached about people calling out others sins and how this is not a good practice to follow as one must look at their own sins before judging, yet his wife, Karen is quick to judge........"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; ... You hypocrite! First, remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye...... I believe this was the exact verse that Pastor Llyod had used which I agree with, yet he cannot get his own wife in order.
When I had initially met Karen, I had an off feeling about her. I tried to over look this and could not really understand why I felt that way, but I did. As time went on and I carefully observed, I later came to understand why I had the feeling that I had and that this woman was working against the works of her husband.
With other situations that took place, truth was revealed to me. As a practicing Catholic, I was still open to checking out Calvary but I started to realize where this place falls short. The judgmental character of Karen Pulley is completely contradictory to the teachings that Llyod preaches about on a weekly bases.
It's sad that this woman rides off the coat strings of her husband, who is a good man, yet does not follow what he preaches. A church is supposed to open its arms to people, mentor them, and help strengthen their relationship with God. Unfortunately, this is where it falls short. Rather than bringing others in, Karen is busy chasing them out.
You can observe this yourself but I am giving my honest experience at this place. I did not want to believe the stories I had initially heard from others as that is not the way a Christian should operate, but after seeing it first hand I think that it is a dangerous practice that is taking place when Mr. Pulley is genuinely doing the...
Read moreI started with CCOB the day Pastor Llyod and Karen first started a church. I was a young girl in the 80s and I was just newly saved. When I sat to listen to Pastor Lloyd share the gospel, I Saw a young man with a love and passion for Christ. I watched his wife sacrifice a lot so that her husband could build that ministry. I’ve watched them humbly live and always open their hearts to all people. No church will ever be perfect. As the saying goes, this church would be great if it wasn’t for the people! When you grow to the capacity, this church has grown and rightfully so the teaching is excellent, you will have mixed reviews! Our church has so many beautiful ministries, especially for the disabled children, broken loaves, where we feed people who are low income and cannot afford food. We have so many missionaries that travel the world to share the gospel and some in very dangerous places. I saw one review where a woman said she was disabled and the church judged her for that and wanted to know her income and she was suggesting that this church just wanted to make sure she had money to come to this church. That had to be the worst thing I have ever heard and not true! I have watched our Pastor teach every single Sunday and never once ask for money. Our church does not even send a basket around. They leave that on you to tithe if you want to and you could find the box out in the hallway. Tithing is something we do because God said so! We support the ministry so the gospel can be shared across the planet! So after 40+ years of being at this church, I was never asked to sign up to be a member. I just show up and I am automatically a family member. Listening to some of these negative reviews makes me wonder are people coming in to hear the word of God, to have their lives be transformed or are they coming in to critique? All, I can tell you is God used Pastor Lloyd ,this church to transform my life forever. I was taught the Bible verse by verse in-depth study from Genesis to revelations. I have watched miracles in my own family and I have a church family that has prayed with me, cried with me And has loved me. You cannot come here a couple of times and judge the church based on how a person made you feel. Maybe you need to sit there a little bit longer. Listen to the words that are being taught, read the Bible, pray and watch God open all those...
Read moreAfter a few of the other reviews I have seen in regard to Pastor Lyod's wife manipulating others and anyone having any doubt, I encourage you to see the attached below. This was brought to the churches elders attention, acknowledged by an elder and it was swept under the rug! Anyone defending this type of behavior really needs to re-evaluate themselves and the situation at hand. Mr. Pulley I believe is genuinely a nice Man, but his wife truly needs to do some soul searching or be removed from any pastoral duties whatsoever. This is not an attack on her character but rather someone who is fed up seeing others hurt by this woman's diabolical behavior on a continual basis. This institution runs a place that is supposed to open its arms to those that are in need, guide them and pray for them. In turn it seems the wife of the leader of this institution thinks its ok to attack, judge, bully (this is especially disturbing as she uses her husbands place of power ) and put down members who may need true guidance. This could be a lack of true understanding of real world situations, education or just plain selfishness. Granted, no one is perfect but when Karen interjects herself without a full understanding of the of both sides of a problem, then decides on her own accord to condemn a particular party, this is in complete contrast to the teachings of Christ. It seems it is all too frequent that when other members have this problem and rightfully bring it to the elders, they are directed to look the other way. Unfortunately, they are practicing the same type of games our current politicians are involved in! The general consensus seems to be, protect the perpetrator at all costs but the persons truly in need get the brunt end of the stick. This nonsense...
