First time visit this afternoon. When I walked in, the chef greeted me and introduced himself. I ended up get three each of the pumpkin chocolate chip and the turtle which still warm. The person who rang up my order was such a joy of a person. Their customer service is indeed exemplary. The scones are not the biscuit like texture but light, fluffy, and moist. The pumpkin chocolate chip was delicious. The icing was perfect amount of sweetness. The Turtle scones were a mouth watering showstopper for chocolate lovers! The caramel coated the edges with a lightly caramelized layer of golden goodness which was a lovely surprise. I can't wait to come back and try their savory scones.
Protip: Come early because when I got there around 12:30 their case was almost bare.
Updated 11/11/23 Came in today to try their savory bacon cheddar biscuit with chives. I tried one when I got in the car and it was a rush of endorphins! So delicious. I inquired about the cookies and when chef said Ganache, I stopped him and said, "I'll take two," Cookies were amazing. A real treat because they do not even taste...
Read moreAfter seeing so many glowing reviews, I was excited to finally stop by. I consider myself a bit of a scone connoisseur and am always on the hunt for a great scone to pair with a good cup of coffee. The owner introduced himself and enthusiastically told me about their gluten-free scones, which immediately caught my attention. My favorite scones are also gluten-free, but since they’re based in D.C., I don’t get to have them often.
I ordered two sweet scones and one savory. Since there weren’t prices posted, I was shocked when the total came out to over $30 for three scones.
The garlic rosemary scone was flavorful, with a chewy texture, though it leaned more toward a bread-like consistency with a bit of an eggy taste. The stuffed fruit scone had the same chewy, tapioca-like texture, which wasn’t quite what I was expecting from a traditional scone.
I can tell the owner puts care into his products, but for me personally, the texture and flavor didn’t match what I typically look for in a scone. Still, I appreciate the friendly service and unique gluten-free options, which I know many...
Read moreFinally a place with gluten free goodies that is one of the best, if not the best bakery in the area. Each pastry has so much flavor and a nice light texture that doesn't weigh you down. I am allergic to eggs, gluten and wheat. I was able to find one of, if not the best double chocolate muffin I've ever eaten. All of their scones are fruit filled (blueberry in the picture) and are also full of flavor. I highly recommend this bakery. The only thing I wish is if there were more vegan options readily available and more hours of operation for this business. Even with the limited hours and limited vegan on hand choices (he is able to make anything vegan with a custom order), they are worth the wait. Seriously, eat here.
Update: the owner had more vegan options. I was able to try the vegan chocolate raspberry scone. It was literally the best scone I have ever had. I still highly recommend eating here. What's good you ask? Everything on the menu. I can't wait to see what other...
