We just got done with a 1000 mile 22 hour motorcycle endurance ride. It was 6:15 in the morning and we absolutely needed to stop for a bit to rest. We had a motorcycle camping trailer with us and so we popped it up in the park to only nap for a couple hours and be on our way. At 7:30 an employee for your parks came along and started telling us that there was no over night camping there. My boyfriend told him that we were not over night camping and immediately your employee stated that there's a tent there so we must be. Again my boyfriend told him that we had just got there and had no intent on over night camping. He started to say he was coming back with someone when I interrupted and explained that we had just gotten done with a 1000 mile ride and only wanted to nap for a couple of hours before going the rest of the way home (Arlington) and that we would be leaving at 9. He said OK and he would return. We are NOT homeless people going from park to park. We are both hard working people who know and respect the parks. People every day set up tents and bring campers to parks to picnic and stay the entire day. Why were WE singled out? Why were we accused of overnight camping and treated so rudely and not even asked what we were doing? We arrived at 6:15 a.m and left at 8:45, no cars lost any parking either. . . . . . This was a VERY upsetting occurrence to me and I only wish I had the employees name he was...
Read moreLocated just below Tumwater Falls, where the Deschutes River meets Capitol Lake, this is a great park for the entire family. There's a fully equipped kids' playground, a large covered picnic pavilion you can reserve for barbecues, birthdays, etc., with washrooms just steps away. The park includes several acres of open, grassy fields and sits directly across the narrow river from the Old Brick Brewhouse where Olympia Beer was brewed from 1906 to 1934 (at which time a new, modern brewing complex was built on the hill just above it.) A walking trail along the park's perimeter leads to Tumwater Falls Park (now officially known as Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls) at it's south end, while it's north end continues underneath Interstate-5 and around the edge of Capitol Lake to the adjacent aquatic interpretive area on...
Read moreI have been going there since I was a kid. Now I am taking my little one to "Tumwater Historical Park" lots to do then we'll eventually go hang out at tumwater falls when my kiddo gets a little older. Okay usually Park restrooms are on the gross side such as the capital lake restrooms those are awful. I mean the least people could do is not be utterly gross and respect people's boundaries. Flush twice and keep an "out of order" sign around then please call a plumber. We have many amazing ones here in the Pacific northwest. 😁😑For real though these park restrooms at "Tumwater Historical Park" are probably the nicest I've ever seen for a public restroom. Just thought I'd drop in the down low for public restrooms around Olympia,Washington. Stay safe and remember if you're not good at least be good at it. Lol....
