Has a nice patio and that’s about it. The hostess wasn’t nice by any means, but wasn’t rude. We were seated and it took awhile for our waiter to come to us. When he did we ordered some margaritas. I ordered mine with chamoy and tajin on the rim. He then asked me with salt or sugar. I again asked for chamoy and tajin. We ordered chips with cheese and salsa. They do not give you chips and salsa like most places. You have to order it and pay for it. My drink comes, has tajin on it but no chamoy. I didn’t say anything about it. Chips and cheese were average. Their salsa was really tomato-y with a slight vinegar taste. We ordered the stuffed Chille Relleno a fish taco and a carnitas taco. The chille relleno was supposed to be stuffed with pork and served with rice and beans. It came out with only rice on the plate. I asked the waiter who said it was either one or the other. I pointed out the menu where it states rice AND beans. As he went to get them I cut into the chili which was supposed to be stuffed with carnitas , but came out with what looked like boiled & shredded chicken. It was flavorless, but gross. The fish taco - was very bland. The carnitas taco - it was just ok. Nothing special. The waiter came back and I pointed the chile was made wrong and that we weren’t pleased with the place. I told him it was our first time and last time here. The interior of the place is dirty and unkept. I wish I had taken a pic of the bathroom and kitchen area that I could see. It was definitely a 1 and done. I’d rather eat day old peanut butter & jelly than come back to this place.

The food was mostly terrible. We got the chicken fajitas with rice and beans. The chicken, rice and beans all tasted like they were cooked in very salty chicken bouillon. We got a chicken quesadilla which would have been fine, but it had very cheap quality shredded chicken, which again tasted like it had been boiled in chicken bouillon and the tortillas were cheap, non authentic quality. I couldn't eat the quesadilla so I ordered veggie nachos. The beans tasted like chicken bouillon, the cheese wasn't real, it was like off brand Velveeta and the weirdest part was that the veggies were broccoli, corn and mushrooms. Ugh, the smell coming off of it when I lifted the nucleus of the nachos, was god-awful. Chips and salsa cost extra, the red salsa tastes like cumin, the green salsa was decent. The service was great and they so kindly removed the quesadilla from our check. If you want anything anywhere close to authentic Mexican food I would advise against eating here. The 2 other tables seemed to be enjoying their tacos and alcohol, so if that's your thing, it might be better than what we chose.

Very good and authentic Mexican restaurant located in downtown Elkhorn! The atmosphere is good with a bunch of Mexican themed decorations, Mexican music playing and a good number of TVs showing sports. The entrance is a little weird as you enter through the patio but that was very nice as the weather was perfect to sit outside. Maximos is definitely on the expensive side when it comes to Mexican food, but it's well worth it as all dishes are prepared fresh with fresh and high quality ingredients. Service was basic but good. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back.

Very disappointed in this restaurant. It’s been awhile since I’ve been here (prior to covid) and came back because I really liked their complimentary chips and salsa. Upon arrival I stood at the door and was only greeted after about 6 different employees had walked right by me. There is was nothing but dirty tables everywhere that had yet to be cleaned off. It shouldn’t have taken that long. I said that’s ok, let me use the restroom to give the gentleman time but when I got out I still had to wait another 5 minutes before being seated. The waitress got my drink but never came with any chips or salsa which is the reason that brought me in. After waiting 10 minutes with no one acknowledging me she finally came back and I asked and that’s when she told me they’re no longer offering that. I’m sorry to say but when people have come to expect it and you change things it leaves them with a bad experience. The excessive waiting did not help. Unfortunately it’s been so disappointing so far that I’m writing this review while I’m still at the table waiting for my food. So far very disappointing and would not recommend based on lack of service and no complimentary chips and salsa which they...
