I enjoyed my experience today, but because of COVID-19, I was unable to experience the atmosphere or full experience of this coffee house. I got avocado toast, a latté, and an iced coffee with Carmel. The avocado 🥑 toast was excellent I would rate it 5/5. The bread was very high quality and the avocado was more of a hummus consistency, but was really good. The latté had homemade almond milk in it, because that’s what I asked for and it was very rich and good. I would give it a 5/5 and there wasn’t much foam on the top which is good. The iced coffee was different than anything I’ve tried before. I love iced drinks and they didn’t advertise they had any, but they said they can ice any drink. I liked the coffee, it was rich and seemed to be high quality and I enjoyed that about it. There were a few things that I disliked about it though, or things I would suggest could be changed. The first thing I noticed was the straw. It was a wooden straw, which I totally love, but the quality of the straw wasn’t good and it broke. Also, I didn’t think there would be honey in it, I’ve never had an iced coffee with honey in it before. I don’t like honey very much and I don’t think I would have noticed if it was mixed in properly, but it just all sat at the bottom of the cup. Overall, this coffee shop is a little pricey, with tax, everything was about $18, but I understand because everything is very high quality. I gave this coffee shop 4/5 stars for...
Read moreI live a couple of blocks away from the Myrtle and Cypress, and it’s one of my favorite coffee shops in town. I will often walk there with my one and a half year old, who loves the place as much as I do. They have a play area in the back that is super baby friendly, where she can entertain herself or play with me. It’s really nice to be able to enjoy a long rest outside of my home without feeling like I’m making her bored. The rest of the coffee shop is beautifully decorated and very adult, so it doesn’t feel like kindergarten or the children’s museum. Truly a perfect place for people with kids!
The coffee is also fantastic. I’ve talked with the owners on multiple occasions (they are very nice people!), and I’ve found that every item I’ve talked to them about is either homemade or locally sourced - from their non dairy milk and creams (made in house!) to their selection of loose teas and baked goods. My personal favorite drinks are the maple date latte (I like it iced), and the jade matcha (hot). Their nut mills are so creamy that they are comparable to dairy milk.
All in all, fantastic...
Read moreMyrtle & Cypress was a breath of fresh air for this new mama of two. I visited last week for the first time on a friend's recommendation and it exceeded every expectation. From the visually-pleasing seating area to the friendly barista behind the counter (who greeted everyone with a smile as they entered) to the oh-so-smooth cold brew to the lovely green plants (which apparently you can buy right there on the spot and take home with you!) to the wonderful music selection, it was honestly like giving my senses a little vacation from my normal hectic life with a toddler and a newborn. Other pluses are that it's so close to where I currently live that I could walk if I wanted to, there was ample parking at the gas station next door, and I can return with my kids next time because there's a beautiful little play room in the back of the shop! If you haven't visited yet, do yourself a favor! Be sure to bring a good book, find yourself a cozy spot at the window, and order some creamy avocado toast while you're at it. You...
