O'leavers pub has great service and great bartenders. I've been playing volleyball there since 2008.
Last night there were some incredibly rude customers and although I didn't see the beginning of the conversation, I believe the Oleaver's volleyball bar staff handled the situation the best they could. The customers who were playing on Court 1 appeared to be angry about someone not showing up, which is definitely frustrating as its happened to my team as well, however that is not the fault of the bar staff. Also, when I walked up one of the girls turned around and walked straight into me as she was yelling obscenities at the bartender Clair. The following dialogue between the rude customer and myself was this, verbatim:
after bumping into me and yelling "fing b*" to the bartender * Me: "Relax." Her: "what the f* did you say to me?" Me: "I said you need to relax" Her: "You f*ing relax!" Me: "I'm fine..." she then stormed off towards her court mumbling more obscenities *
If she's willing to say things like that, in public, to complete strangers, that is all the information I need to take the bar staff's side 99 times out of 100.
I've never had any type of altercation or issue with any bar staff at Oleavers in my 11 years of going there. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to next week and many more nights...
Read moreI talked this bar up just before walking in. Since we had to wait awhile for a table at the wonderful Modern Love next door, we went to O’Leaver’s to grab a brew.
Bartender was absolutely lazy. Just meandering with his friends and in not hurry to get our orders. The bar was not busy and when he finally did come up to us, he just stood there. So I spoke up and ordered two beers. He asked for ID’s. My girlfriend showed her and I left mine in the car. While I went to retrieve it, my girlfriend told him which beer was hers so he could pour one for her. Instead of providing service, he responded with, “I’ll just wait. It’s a quick pour.”
I come back in with my ID and she is astonished with his lack of service. He was now on the other side of the bar which is only about 5 feet away and just jacking around! Dude! Pour our beer already!
Unbelievable.
Keynotes: Don’t be lazy. Welcome guests. Don’t make a bad name...
Read moreThere is a small, private (can be) outdoor party area past the enclosed bar, where, w/ agreement w/ head staff, you can do decorations & bring your own party food: snacks, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, w/ plug-ins if needed! A refrigerator was available to keep necessary items cold. Entire area can comfortably handle 30-45 people, about 5 designated seating areas, not including bar counter! We had a great time, even a "dj" was there which the bar provides on a Saturday night!! There was only 1 staff member attending the bar but she was efficient, tho some guests commented on her...
