We have been huge fans of Rusty Taco since opening on 132nd Center. We frequent location at least once a week for lunch over the last almost 2 years. We have had business meetings as well as lunch with kids on their days out of school at the location. Sadly we have seen a decline in the service recently across the board and it really has bummed us out. We usually always get the same tacos, drinks as well as chips and queso each visit with maybe an addition of an item or order the newest item to try. The food has been great, but we have noticed a decline in this area too. If we get in early chips have been stale, like sat over night, and queso clumpy so you know it is not fresh or even burnt tasting like sat too long without being turned. . At our recent visit the shrimp lacked seasoning on one taco but other had the standard seasoning. It was like they forgot to season a batch and I got a mixture of one on each taco. And it has been hit and miss on what is topped on the brisket tacos. I understand you have newer staff come and go, but is there not a standard? In addition to the less than flavor able food on recent visit the customer service fell flat. We were not greeted as we have been in the past. The recent staff that has been there for a few months fail to get to know their regular customers . The female staff previously doing lunch shifts (Nicole may have been her name and team) recalled our names when we came in (they do ask for them when we order so they hear it weekly or more) She would also make a point to check on how we were doing or tell us about new items. The new team seems put out to assist us. On this most recent visit, we were one of five orders in the restaurant. One had already been in when we arrived and had food, the other three came after us. Two of the parties after us received their food prior to us. I inquired as to what was taking so long, and why others were receiving their food prior to us. The male responded "some food takes longer" We are frequent customers and have never waited 20+ minutes before for our food, so we know better than how long it was taking. The reason I gave 3 stars is for prior customer service and food. Recent changes in staff has greatly changed our opinion of location, and how often or if we return. I sure hope there is some training for the staff so food is same each time you order (garnishments and seasonings) as well as customer service. Treat your customers right and then continue to return, treat us like an annoyance and we can and will eat elsewhere. Thank you for the wonderful past customer service and food. Look forward to hearing via others that things improve so we can return to one of our favorite...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I have had at any place. I order the beef brisket nachos whit everything on the side since they don't travel well. I did this since they were not busy only 2 people already eating at a table. I also asked for am extra side for all the toppings since they give you enough chips for 2 serving. Obviously willing to pay for it. Once I got my order I noticed I did not get the extra toppings I asked for and noriced a long hair on the box of chips. Upon talking to the manager who original handed me my order and explaining the situation he got defensive amd aggressive towards me amd they told me I was the aggressor. I come from 20 years of managing restaurants and know mistakes happen so I was not being rude just asked for what was missing and the v Box with the hair to be changed out. At that point he asked to leave and would not fix my order and advised me everything was correct and if I didn't take my incorrect order and leave he would call the cops on me.....again I was nothing but polite and never got upset with them.....I will never go to another rusty tacos if this is how manager's deal with incorrect order....also I explained the mistake could have been because the cashier was kn his second day and maybe it was put in incorrect and that it's understandable. The manager would have nothing to do with it and just said leave or I will call the cops. Never again will I go back, also the meat is not fresh they us water throughout the day to water it down to make it moist again. This come from a friend that works at the...
Read moreI brought my family of four, two adults and two kids. I don't know what went wrong but we ended up having to order twice, both orders got messed up both times. Spent nearly $50 plus tip. The wait was acceptable, I wasn't expecting fast food but I wasn't expecting small tacos. If they got our orders correct at the register, I would have given at least one more star, I didn't want to embarrass the kid by making a scene. This was an indulgence so I'm a bit unhappy since we rarely eat out and as a home cook, I look forward to food adventures.
To feel like I was full it took three tacos and with chips and salsa. You have to order a la carte, and it's assembled after it's ordered. I don't like the amount of trash that generates since it all comes in little individual trays, so it felt a bit more indulgent and kind of embarrassing.
The upside is the food is fresh and the fillings vary, the people are friendly and there is choice between bottle and fountain. What is cool is kept cold and what should be hot is hot -as it should be.
So TLDR, expect to spend $9 to $20 per person with pop and ordering to appetite size. Make sure you triple check your receipts , don't be in a hurry. The place is a little bougie, for the yuppies and the hipsters, which is fine with me. RT, please for the love of god, teach the guy at the register how the POS system works. He's a sweet kid but he screwed up our...
