Update I had a productive conversation with Robert, the General Manager, who personally followed up on the issues I experienced. I'm encouraged by their willingness to take my comments seriously and their evident commitment to improving Whispering Lakes. I believe that with continued dedication to facility upgrades and staff development, this course can truly become a standout for our community. I'm looking forward to seeing the positive changes unfold.
Whispering Lakes has been a fallback option for me for a couple of years, primarily due to its affordability. I was aware of their ongoing renovations and hoped to see improvements, particularly with the notoriously worn-out range balls.
On March 2nd, I inquired via Instagram about the range ball situation and was told they had recently purchased 'better balls.' Based on this, I visited on March 21st, only to find the same heavily used, almost smooth balls. When I followed up, they then stated new balls would be purchased the following week.
My issue isn't the condition of the balls themselves; it's the misrepresentation. I understand that improvements take time and resources. However, providing inaccurate information is unacceptable. Had they been upfront about the timeline for new range balls, I would have waited. Instead, I feel my time was wasted. I'll be taking my business to ranges where I can expect...
Read moreDescribing this place is beyond a joke. Obviously most golfers that use this rundown facility have never played at better places. The fairway is dirty can't tell where the grass begins and the weeds take over. Sprinklers go on constantly as if one needed to get wet while playing. The workers are rude and have a pretentious attitude. They see one playing and don't even bother to get out of the way. There is no marshal to move things along and keep it friendly...people are drinking alcoholic beverages on the greens and they have children present...I will be following up on the legality of the latter...The players are loud, yelling and screaming, place opens at 7am and yet I noticed people playing before that. I dont think the neighbors appreciate the yelling and playing. The individuals running the store are more consumed by how much money they can make. They allow large groups to play...walking...so this consumes hours of descent play for others. The food is deplorable and please, at least use gloves when handling food. The bathrooms are filthy and have trash all over the place. The only thing worth noting here is the beautiful flocks of Geese that fly in. Lastly, don't overstay your welcome because the people in the golf store will call police and try to get rid of you and say they are the owners when it is a CITY OWNED FACILITY. Major mistake playing here,...
Read moreWell, the new owners have a done great job cleaning this place up! From what I can tell, conditions seemed to have improved monumentally here under new management since my last review. Now it's actually a great experience playing here - good course, friendly staff, no annoying practices that ruin your experience. The improvements they've added like the bar/restaurant are very welcome as well.
I haven't used the range much so can't comment there, though I know they've done some work on it recently.
OLD REVIEW: Love the course, but I probably won't be returning here until it's under new management. Last time I bought a twilight round, someone drove around and pulled all the flagsticks from the greens when I was on hole 5 or 6. If you show up after work around sunset, you've got a 50/50 chance that the driving range is actually open with the lights on. Management just closes whenever they feel like going home for the day and says 'not enough people come when it's dark out, so we close and don't turn the lights on.' Yeah, I wonder why no one comes at night anymore when you're never open anyways...
Not sure how they don't have an online booking system yet but it's clear they don't care about running a successful business here and are just...
