Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Opelika

Me, my husband and my adult daughter patronized this restaurant tonight and it was a disaster. There was only one waitress named Theresa taking the orders. There was a young girl greeting the customers at the door and taking them to their seat. There was a man bringing out the food from the kitchen and taking it to the tables. He was also the bartender. It took us 30 minutes for someone to come to the table to ask if someone had taken our drinks. No one had been to the table so she took our drink orders. 15 minutes later someone dropped the drinks off at the table. We waited another 30 minutes before Theresa took our food order. It was another 30 minutes or so before we got our food. My order was not right so I had to wait 15 more minutes. The Texas Margarita my husband ordered was all juice and ice, zero to little liquor. When they brought my order out a second time it still WAS NOT CORRECT! By this time I was starving so I kept what was right and they had to remake what wasn’t right. I had the fajita burrito chicken and it was not good. The chicken, rice or beans had no flavor or seasoning. It was all bland. My daughter’s order was bland as well. My husband had a taco salad and it was okay but not the best he’s had. This was the absolute worse eco have ever had at a Mexican restaurant or any restaurant in general. I will never go back here and I will never recommend this restaurant. They were very understaffed and really just should’ve stopped receiving customers at 7 PM. We paid $62 for a terrible experience with terrible service and terrible food. This was our first time eating here. I had been watching the reviews so I thought it would be a good place to try....

There’s Rarely a wait and the food is always out SO FAST! I’ve visited at least 5 times now! They have the best queso in town in my honest opinion. Their salsa is also my favorite, but one downside is each additional bowl and basket are $1 (for both) but I think that’s fair with prices on things to prevent wasted food. It’s worth it in my opinion if your family only ever gets a basket or two.

The staff is one of the friendliest I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant in the area. EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER I’ve encountered has been wonderful! I never go in hoping for a particular server because they’re all wonderful. I’ll be working closer by to them soon so I know I’ll be visiting as much as possible.

Just average food. Salsa was good. Chips were not. Had fajitas and they came out on a metal plate and did not stay warm like they would with a cast iron skillet like most places. Had a large lime margarita which was $16 and was not good at all. Not sure if it was the mix or cheap tequila. Glass was full of ice so you don’t actually get much drink but it didn’t matter as it wasn’t fit to finish. Atmosphere was depressing as it was just a closed in shop in a run down strip mall.
