Please not that this review and rating is based on consolidation of Google Maps reviews from two locations. Rather than the Gulf Shores location being permanently closed and a separate location added, it appears that the address was changed to Orange Beach so that reviews would remain on same location.
2023 Orange Beach Location: Pizzas were ordered via Papa John’s mobile app. (If you eat Papa John’s fairly often like we do, this is the way to go, as you accumulate points which results in free pizzas.) We placed an order to to be picked up at a later time, so that they would be hot since we have a 20 minute drive back to the house. We received a notification 10 minutes later that the order was ready for pickup. We applaud them producing an order so quickly, but it did defeat the purpose of having it them made at a later time. This meant the pizzas were sitting on the shelves for 40 minutes before arrived, and would be sitting in our car another 20 minutes before arriving home. If you have an order that need to be made at a specific time, I recommend calling as soon as the mobile order is placed to make sure that it’s understood that the order needs to be made later, not immediately. Pizzas tasted good though.
2022 Orange Beach Location: Pizzas were as ordered, ready for pickup on time.
2019 Gulf Shores Location: This Papa John’s has burned a long-lasting humorous memory in my daughter’s mind...and a long-lasting memory of molten pizza on my leg. The pizza is so good. You know when it smells so good and the box Is warm on your lap. You have to sample. Against bodily well-being you still have to sample. Even though you know that first bite has the potential to pull all the liquid topping off and scald your tongue, lips, and chin in the process. I was aware of the swing to the chin. I dodged it with catlike reflexes...only to have molten pizza toppings fall onto my inner thigh. I don’t think I’ve ever screamed that loud. Of course my daughter is laughing hysterically in the backseat. “Daddy screamed like a girl.” She still laughs about it every time there is Papa John’s. All of that to say it’s fresh and hot. We were back again for another big order. Ordered online and order was ready as scheduled when we arrived. Our cashier even helped carry our order to the car. ...

When I ordered online it usually shows a "track my pizza" option. It didn't show that and told me to check my confirmation email, so I did. There was a button that said "track my pizza" so i did. It said "unable to track pizza, error" so I didn't know if my order had went through or not. (Mind you I'm a traveler from TN) So i called up there and he IMMEDIATELY put me on hold. Then picked up 2 seconds later and asked if I was paying cash or card. I told him I think you have the wrong person and he IMMEDIATELY put me on hold again. Then he picked back up 5 mins later and I explained my situation to him about seeing if my order went through or not. Around halfway through my explanation he interrupted me and asked for a name, I didn't hear him and he asked again. I told him my name and he said "okay yeah we're just waiting on a driver to take it to you" then hung up. Pizza got there 15 mins later, and thr box was crushed cause the driver kept our 2 liter drink on top of it, like they're NOT supposed to. Then when I opened the pizza box once he left, there was WAY too much sauce smeared and the cheese was falling right off. It seemed under cooked and made wrong. I'm so upset about this cause i used to work at a Papa Johns back home and I KNOW that's not how your supposed to make the pizza. Definitely unsatisfied. 👎🏻
• EDIT: So earlier that way, I had (I assume) the manager or the GM call me, his name was Ricky. He was super sweet and generous. He was very apologetic about my order and how wrong it was, he explained to me that it wouldn't happen again and that he got onto his staff members for the mistake. He refunded me my money and offered to send me a replacement order. I was out doing other things so politely declined the replacement but I'm very glad i got my money back. Im hoping his team can learn from this mistake and I'm very pleased that he made things right....
Read moreI normally dont do reviews. However this is as a courtesy to any one that wants food from this location. Trust me stay away. They dont know the first thing about customer service and food was less than desirable. Where do I start? ordered online $122.26 45min later door dash shows up with 10% of the order . They only had 1 small pizza which was for my child and I was told by the door dash person I would need to call Papa Johns. Let me be clear hear I didnt order through door dash I ordered through Papa johns. So I called them and the lady says she finds it hard to believe that I didnt get most of my order. Was very rude and impolite. She hands me off to someone and I go through the whole thing again, well come to find out this lady found the rest of the order sitting at Papa Johns and they blamed it on the door dash person whom I didnt order from in the first place. Any ways they redeliver and we received our food approx 2.5 to 3 hours after we initially ordered. So supposedly two managers delivered it and they were going to see what they could do for us as far as discounts or refund goes. Didnt hear back from them. Which wasnt surprised. The pizza was horrible , cold and disgusting not what I am used to getting from Papa Johns. My son and daughter in law got sick from it. Anyways I gave them a few days and called them back today. Spoke to Catherine she said she was a manager. She said the only thing they can do is maybe give us one free pizza and had to order it tonight. I said no the food was awful the first time. I would only accept some type of refund. Needless to say they said they couldnt do anything. So guys beware this place is beyond nasty. I am going to have to send Shaq an email and let him know this store...
