Saray Bakery & Ice Cream Cafe — Restaurant in Orange

My husband and I were very excited to try this place. We went in and the owner said to seat ourselves. Everyone else in there appeared to be Turkish so we thought this must be authentic! The waitress came to take our order but didn’t say one word and not a smile. As we were ordering she seemed rushed and walked off quickly to help another table. Our bread came cold. Then our order came, she slammed it on the table and it was missing many items. She never returned to our table so we went up to ask the owner for the rest of the order. He said they were out of the simit which we had seen plenty of in the glass case as we walked in. But our waitress never bothered to let us know that they were “out”. We asked the owner for our tea, meat pie, and more bread . He said he will bring them. Then part of the order came ( eggs) but she put it on another table, customers told her it’s not their order, so she took it from them and put it on our table. We sat there for 15mins without any bread or the rest of our order and were unable to eat (as most of the food needed to be eaten with bread). We left most of our food, paid and walked out. They come off as racist and preferring only their own as the waitress was super nice, smily and friendly with anyone who was speaking Turkish but not us! Will not be going...

Birthday cake fail… As a cake connoisseur I was excited when my fiancé ordered me a yellow cake with crème and strawberry filling for my birthday. Upon opening the cake… the “Happy Birthday” was sooo sloppy in a GEL writing that had half melted off the cake. My name was in all capital letters squeezed on the side, oozing down to little legibility. The cake was as dry as bread and looked the texture of bread as well. It was white cake, not yellow… the cake had cream filling with some fresh Strawberries and an added assortment of blue berries and raspberries. Not what was asked for at all. The cream was thick and flavorless, the outside frosting was some very thin whipped layer of something. Seemed they just grabbed an old cake out the display and wrote my name on it. If this was their practice, they should have informed during the order process! We would have went elsewhere. I was sorely disappointed. And it’s the worst cake I’ve ever had. Maybe they just don’t specialize in cakes… maybe this is “Turkish style” cake, I don’t know. But please do not get a birthday cake from here and expect any...

I would like to share my recent experience at Saray Bakery. A couple of days ago I placed my order over the phone and went to pick up on Thursday. There was a mistake with my order and it wasn’t ready. The employees seemed very apologetic and told me to please give them 15 minutes and they will fix it. Even tho I was really in a rush i decided to wait. The ladies at the counter were so hospitable that you couldn’t be mad at them. The offered me a free coffee and 2 cookies. One lady came over to apologize again and explained the situation while the other lady worked on my order. They made my order quickly and put in another free pastry to go. That was so nice! At the end it’s not the mistake that matters it’s how they handled it and how they made me feel! Thank you lovely ladies at Saray Bakery I...
