Captain D's — Restaurant in Orangeburg

I'm sorry I'm posting this now & not yesterday but we've been super busy with our businesses.

Yesterday Aug 28th, 2023 Captain D's on Broughton St -n- Orangeburg is the worse restaurant we've ever been in.

1. Customer Service was Awful, unfriendly & rude.

2. an elderly gentleman came up to the counter & asked for salt for him & his wife. The girl working the counter was rude & handed the man 2 packs & he asked for more she (girl working counter) goes over to get more salt & she takes forever like she's counting each pack. Finally she brings it over to the older gentleman & doesn't try to put it in his hand some of the packs drops on the counter & she never tried to pick them up or say I'm sorry or anything she walks off.

3. she gathers up the trash came straight back to the front counter she never had time to wash her hands

4. she gets our food she drops my potato in the floor opens the box takes her dirty finger nails & pulls dirt off my potato, closes the box & tries to give me the potato which I refused 3 times.

5. After Refusing the potato she makes fun of me to the cook

6. My potatoes are old they were so hard that my fork would not go into the potato & the cheese was awful it was hard as a rock. I had to peel it off my potato & then I could only eat part of the potato & the 2nd potato was non edible.

7. My husband's plate was burnt

8. Our Daughter opened a pack of Honey Mustard and it had mold on top of the honey mustard

9. The Floor did not look clean & it most definitely wasn't when the young lady picked dirt off my potato

It Needs New...

The quality of food is not the same at the Broughton St location in Orangeburg. I am from out of town and recently ordered fried okra a la carte that arrived in a small side order container. Upon seeing the small container, I asked if that was the $3.68 container, and was told yes. When I got back to the hotel and opened the container, there were 10 cut pieces of okra approx 1 small pod and a half. I immediately called the store and Keosha, the manager, stated the 3.68 order comes in a small container with a clear lid. I asked what does the .99 cents order comes in. She eventually admitted that the a la carte order is supposed to come in a small white box, like the ones the a la carte hush puppies come in. She offered no compensation and requested I come back to the store. I am not sure if the 9pm hour affects the quality of food, but my entire meal was horrible. The hush puppies were doughy and flavorless and the garlic butter shrimp and fish meal did not taste like garlic, but rather, greasy shrimp. The fish did not have any garlic butter on it. Nor any taste.

My older aunts ordered the giant fish sandwich, and they said the sandwich had no taste and you could not tell what kind of fish you're eating. Koesha informed them it was swai when they initially placed their order.

Disappointing experience. Very disappointing. As a matter of fact, I am switching my rating from a 2 star to just 1 star. I feel sick...

I love going to Captain D's to sit down and eat inside the past couple of months they have been slack with the dining room area being open saying that they are short on staff that shouldn't matter at all if a person wants to sit down and eat their meal they should be able to do so it's not like they have to come and be a waitress to a person the person has to fix their own drinks they just need a seat and also it was a tall slim white manager there when he was there everything ran smooth I don't see him anymore and everything seems to be slack even with the food as well baked potatoes are overly cooked One day me and my friend went in there to eat and the girl that brought our food told us the fish was the opposite of what it was so we end up eating each other's fish and they had to remake it because I knew something wasn't right with the one I was eating and the way it looked as well but I went with what the worker said they did recook the fish to give us but I was already full from eating and drinking The other items of the meal when I had got the fish I just had to take it home. I hope at Captain D's opens up the inside...
