D&B Fish and Barbecue — Restaurant in Orangeburg

Tried this spot because of the reviews and I’ll try almost anything once. Well first there was no BBQ any where in the place, second the food that was in the buffet tables was old and mushy the greens beans had sugar in them it tasted that way, the greens were from a can, the gravy from a jar, the sausage and peppers was COLD, the BBQ meatballs looked old they only 2 things that was half way good was the turkey wings and fried chicken. I must admit first place I’ve been to that had turkey wings but again they were seasoned very well. The mac and cheese was straight nasty it was missing cheese in my opinion. The server bought 4 pieces of fried whiting to the table they were fresh out the grease but not seasoned, she also deliver fried pork chop they were just fried pork chop nothing to really brag about. The place was empty except for one family which should have spoken volumes especially on a Friday. Definitely not worth coming back to it’s not the SOUL FOOD I’m use to. Small town Mom & Pop style restaurant; where we would definitely eat again! The serving size was plentiful and the food was seasoned to perfection. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the combo catfish and shrimp which came with...3 sides! My son and I had the ribs platter. My son rarely eats bbq ribs but he devoured 4 thick and meaty bones, leaving one one to spare. The customers were very friendly so the wait seemed short. The 90 year old couple who had been frequenting there for years, recommended the turkey wings and the flounder. I will definitely try both the next time we pass through on our way to MS. I saw the high reviews and decided to go with my family and try this place. We had a very bad experience. We had trouble finding the entrance. Once we we're inside we really never felt welcome. The man who did greet us and ended up seating us said that someone would be with us, but only thing a server said is that we aren't supposed to be seated there and asked if we seated ourselves or the man. I answered that the man did and she went off to check. So different people kept saying that someone will be there but after the constant passing the buck. I decided we'd been there long enough.
