This afternoon, I simply ordered-to-go three cheeseburgers with fries and two children's cheeseburgers with fries. I liked that customers were social distancing. Social distance markers were on the floor at the entrance. I could see through the kitchen window that all the cooks were wearing masks. The cashier gave me my receipt and it didn't take long to get my to-go-order. I checked the food before leaving the property and was disappointed. The five burgers were smaller than I expected. There were only 8 to 10 cuts of regular fries with each "small" burger. The two children's burgers only had the meat and the bun. I walked back into the restaurant, returned the food, and asked for my money back. The cashier did not know the procedure to give me my money back and informed me the manager was not on property. I do not eat at Black Bear Diner often and now I see why. I told the cashier what was wrong with the food. She tells me the children's burgers do not come with cheese and that I have to ask for cheese on the children's burgers. I told her that I did ask for cheese. (I thought to myself) 'When a customer asks for two cheeseburgers that means to put cheese on the burgers. How hard is that to understand??? Or is it because I'm African American, the cashier thought she had to remind me to ask for cheese on the children's burgers as if I'm stupid?' Back 40 Cafe, The Chicken Shack, Wendy's, and Gino's Cafe have adult sized beef burgers with a satisfying amount of fries to enjoy with their burgers. My beautiful wife, children, and I went to Gino's Cafe for cheeseburgers and fries, then returned to Black Bear Diner to get the money. I have worked in the restaurant industry and the hotel industry. I know when I see good or poor leadership by managers and good or poor customer...
Read moreWe have been a customer for many years. One of our favorites was the prime rib. A week ago we had prime rib…my husband’s meat was marginal,,,not very thick, lots of rat, generally not quality to your standards. Mine was awful…half of the cut was less than half an inch…I let it go…just a bad night. Tonight exactly the same thing happened. My husband’s was o.k. Not like we have had. Mine was exactly the same as last week…over half of the steak was less than half an inch thick. This time Incomplained to the manager…,she explained they weighed it and it is 9 ounces…nine ounces of meat when over half if it is inedible is not going to make your customers happy. We know what it was, you know what it was…what you are serving now is NOT a. eatable, and certainly not worth $22.00. As I told the manager 9 ounces of sub stand cuts of PRIME RIB is not what YOU served in the past. I brought the inedible part home to weigh, but could not find my food scale. I can honestly say at least four ounces was not anything I will eat. Sadly we will...
