Ate here twice in one week, due to excessive traveling. We accidentally found this wonderful place & since we happened to LOVE it, so much our 1st time, we went back a 2nd time. The 1st time we went, I had the Skylark Bagel Sandwich, with a Green Salad & Blue Cheese Dressing. My dining partner had the Club House with Housemade Potato Salad. My Skylark had the most tasty, freshest cuts of Turkey Breast. Not salty, processed Turkey either. It was more than obvious, that they had roasted the Turkey Breast in house. I seriously wanted to take home a pound of just the Turkey Breast. I loved my Sandwich & it was so HUGE, I ate the other half for dinner, later. Oh, also I did order it with sliced, fresh, raw Onion added. I want to make one of my own of this Sandwich, but it HAS to be with their Turkey Breast, I swear I am now hooked! Lol. My Green Salad was simple, the Blue Cheese dressing was delicious. The Cranberry & Cream Cheese on my Bagel Sandwich, was the perfect pairing of sweet & savory. My dining partner's Club House Sandwich was gigantic & he as well took the other half of his, home for Dinner. The housemade Potato Salad was good, but we both compared it, to his own homemade recipe & I guess we are spoiled snobs. Lol, not knocking their's by any means though. Most places serve Reser's instead of making their own & Reser's is disgusting. So, BIG KUDOS to BondZee's for making their own! So, lets skip to our next visit. We decided to have Breakfast this time. I had the Z28 & my dining partner had the Chicken Fried Steak Hearty Breakfast. Needless to say, it was a literal trough of food, half of which he took home for later. I will be 100% honest, I have texture issues & Chicken Fried Steak is NOT my cuppa tea & I have tried it numerous times, during my years on the earth, but after seeing it being served to another table, during our 1st visit, we knew we had to try it. I still don't like it, but if I was going to recommend it to someone who does like it, BlondZee's is where they should go. The Country Gravy tastes like Smoke. Super different than any Gravy, I have ever tasted anywhere! Very creamy & thick, with that smoky flavor, very nice! My dining partner shared his Pancakes with me to try & they were heavy, cakey & OH SO YUMMY. We put Marionberry Syrup on them. Man oh man. The Hasbrowns were super potatoey, didn't look or taste like your normal frozen Hashbrowns, that you get other places. Seemed totally housemade & if they weren't, then they have a fabulous supplier. Eggs were cooked correctly & we left with very happy tummies. Our server the 1st time was new & her name was Rochelle. She was extremely sweet & attentive, I adored her friendliness. I forgot to ask our server for her name, during our 2nd visit & for that I apologize. She too was very on task, told us the history of the restaurant & was very nice, effervescent & sweet! I can't wait, to drive back up to Salem, with my Son & his Wife, to introduce them to my new favorite restaurant! Don't drool over the photos, just go there & eat! You'll be addicted to the...
Read moreWe were sat immediately but waited 30 minutes to order. Our server did walk by several times during that 30 minutes to tell her she would be with us.
We ordered the special which was lemon, poppyseed, pancakes with eggs and bacon. They were probably the best pancakes I’ve ever had, but they did not put the syrup on the side. They only put it on about half of the pancake, but what I did get was exceptional. The bacon was crispy and then and the eggs were standard.
The mini CFS breakfast was not small at all. It was a very nice size portion of chicken fried steak. It was very crispy and did not taste at all like it came from a freezer. The gravy was also good. The hashbrowns were a little soft and mushy, but not bad at all.
The $8 side of Oktoberfest sausage did not disappoint. This was a massive portion. This was the size of an entire kielbasa you get at the grocery store cut into four pieces. It was delicious.
We ordered a cinnamon roll to go, and it was massive as well. It took up the entire space in a standard Styrofoam to-go container. It was also cold, which was nice because it will be heated again later.
The bathrooms weren’t great. The handicap stall did not have a locking door, and the smaller stall had to be adjusted and wiggled to shut properly. It wasn’t dirty, but it was definitely dated.
The service was good. It looks like our server was taken care of the whole room so she was very busy.
They do have a credit card surcharge of 4% so bring cash if you don’t wanna pay that.
I will definitely be coming back to check out the other food on the menu. They had some really interesting choices, and from what I could see coming from the kitchen to other tables, big portions are the...
Read moreThis place was so good before it was taken over and changed to BlondZee's. I've only been here twice since the change and don't plan to ever go back. They are over priced for the quality of food they serve. I ordered Eggs Benedict and the rest of the party ordered other breakfast items. When theborder finally made it to the table, everything was cold. I asked for extra soft eggs on my breakfast and they came out hard boiled, while other orders seemed to be uncooked to the point of being unhealthy to eat. When this was brought up to the manager, she seemed to be annoyed we brought it to her attention and nothing was offered to fix the situation. When we went to pay for the coffee and toast that was eaten, we were expected to pay for inedible food and the manager finished the rest of the transaction with a rude attitude. I decided to give the place one last chance, but was disappointed yet again. Ordered the German Sausage breakfast with extra crispy hash browns. The entire breakfast came out tasting like a dirty greasy grill and the hash browns were closer to mashed potatoes that ketchup couldn't even help taste better. This time I just asked for a box and took it home where the dog didn't even want to wat it. Maybe sandwiches and things that can be deep fried are the way to go, but it will still be expensive for the quality of food you...
