The Original Pancake House — Restaurant in Salem

This place was a nightmare. Took my granddaughter here one day, we ordered received our order and bill all at same time. Kept hoping to get refill on water, coffee, and to order for our family but no one came back to check on us. Put my card out to pay and they finally came over to get payment. I said yes before we pay could I please make a a to go order. Lady says I'll check. Then from halfway across the restaurant say no kitchen closed. The lady at other table says since when does the kitchen close at 1 waitstaff yelled "it's posted on the door it's been 1 since covid." I said " well it would have been nice to have seen if we needed anything before that." I then asked to talk to the manager and tell her that we were never checked on and she said we'll we don't check on every table. I said we'll working for tips you should see if anyone needs anything. We left. Couple days latter try to give them another chance, see same waitstaff was there and asked if we could please be seated with anyone other than her. Manager lies to staff says we were rude and kicked us out. The guy, followed us to our car and braneshed a weapon. Yet we were the ones in the wrong. Stay clear of this restaurant if you want to go to one go to one...

The most amazing service staff I have ever met! Since this was my first visit I wasn't sure what to order, so I decided on the potato pancakes. When they came, they covered an enormous plate. My husband thought they were quite tasty, but I guess I didn't know what I was getting when I ordered. I was just going to eat a little and forget it, but the waitress noticed I wasn't thrilled. When she heard I didn't really like them, she picked them up and and told me to choose something else. I protested that it wasn't their fault, I made the choice. She said she was not going to let me eat something I disliked, so I gave in and ordered the buttermilk pancakes. OMG...fluffy, warm and fabulous! My husband had ordered biscuits and gravy and even he admitted the gravy was just as good as he makes - quite the complement coming from him.

Back to the service staff: like I said, amazing. One of the waitresses noticed a patron had left her purse behind, and ran after her clear out into the parking lot to return it. Between the great food and the even better service, I wish I had more stars to give. We...

This is a great place to go for breakfast. I discovered this place on my own and the next week asked my mother to join me. Now, my mother and I go every week and sometimes my sister and/or grandmother will join us for breakfast. The food is delicious and customizable. If you order an omelette, biscuita and gravy, or "meal" of any sort, be prepared for a huge portion. They had to cut back on the amount of bacon they provided because the cost of bacon increased and the amount of bacon people weren't eating was pretty high.

Their pancakes. These deserve their own paragraph. Their pancakes will melt in your mouth. No knives needed. You cut into them with the side of your fork and scoop them onto the fork. Truly, the best pancakes money can buy.

Speaking of money, this place is not cheap. If you want that, go to McDonald's, they're across the street. But you do get what you paid for. They aren't expensive and they aren't cheap. They're right down the middle. And you get a wait staff that super friendly...
