My family and I ate here about a month ago, while we were on vacation in Klamath Falls. The service was lax and the food was mediocre, but the worst part of our experience was the truly horrible people that worked there and owned the place.
It took them almost 10 minutes to seat us and then at least another 15 before anybody even came around to ask about our drink order.
Our meals were delivered in three shifts and after the third dropoff, we asked about my son's meal. The person who dropped our meals said they would check.
5 minutes later, I had to hunt down our server and ask again about my son's meal. She looked confused but said she would go check with the kitchen. My son told us to go ahead and start eating. Another 5 minutes and I hunted down I don't know the bartender maybe. I asked, again, about my son's meal. Once more , I was told they would check with the kitchen. A few minutes later, a lady came to our table and told us that our son's meal had not been on the ticket and they were just now starting to prepare it for us.
During this time, my granddaughter brought it to our attention that her order of clams was more than half sealed tight. We brought that to the attention of our server and they took the clams away and just before we were told my son's meal was not on the ticket, they brought my granddaughter's clams.
Our entire table was finished eating before my son finally received his meal.
They gave us half off my daughter's clams but nobody ever apologized for my son's dinner being so late. When we asked about some kind of a discount for his meal we were told, quite rudely, that we should be happy that we got half off the clams that were inedible.
I voice my displeasure but was told, basically, too bad.
All of that was a pretty horrible experience, but the worst thing about the whole experience was that as we were leaving, the owner and another woman were standing at the front podium and they were talking about us and laughing. It was in spanish, but my grandson has taken 3 years of Spanish and knew exactly what...
Read moreMy husband called ahead to see if reservations were needed as our daughter wanted to eat here for dinner for her birthday and they said no, it is first come first serve. So we drove down from Bonanza and were told it would be a 45 min wait. Our daughter really wanted to eat here so we said ok to the wait time and went out and sat in our cars. After 45 mins if waiting we asked how much longer it would be as it was now after 7 and the kids were getting restless and hungry. At this point we were told it would still be 45 mins. I said that we had already waited 45 mins and if we wait 45 more its an hour and a half wait time not 45 mins like we were first told. She responded with, "what am I supposed to tell you, we are busy." I then explained that we were told 45 mins not an hour and a half and we had 6 hungry kids that really couldn't wait another 45 mins. At that point she said she didn't have room and asked if we'd like to cancel our spot. I was so irritated and my kids were so hungry that I just told her yes and took the family to Applebee's where we spent over $160 on dinner and drinks and left the waitress a $30 tip! Don't waist your time or money on this place as they really do not care about making kids wait an hour and a half to even make it in the door! Shame on you El Rodeo... We will no longer be coming to your place of business as the other Mexican restaurants in town treat people with more respect...
Read moreWe went there for a family birthday. We’ve been going to a rodeo since they started out in Chiloquin when our son was four years old. He is now 23 years old and that’s where we went to celebrate. Our rodeo has always been his favorite.
Today at our celebration dinner, the place was essentially empty. I ordered a side garden salad with my food. And the waitress messed up three out of our four orders. We were all quite attentive because she did have a heavy accent and tried to communicate with her and still our orders came out wrong!
I hate to be particular about this, but prices are so outrageous now (fried ice cream for almost $10?!!!!?!?) and everything really does cost a lot. For our family of four adults to dine out was over $100 today! So I guess I’m nitpicky when I lay down that kind of money and they messed the order up. I went over very slowly and tried my hardest to tell her what I didn’t want on my food, which was I didn’t want the tomatoes and onions and she read that back to me. She said it twice so I don’t know how she got that miscommunication.
So the other three people in my group were eating I got to sit there and watch them - then when they were finishing up… here comes mine.
Don’t get me wrong, we love their food! That prices have gone up. Our visits have gone down because we’re poor and I just don’t think I’m going to entertain at El rodeo again in the near future...
