I have 15 years of food service experience and a mountain of debt from culinary school. All of these concerns come from that experience and not because I'm a Karen/Ken.
I took my parents, my brother, and my wife to have lunch there since we were in town and it was close to my folk's place so I had sometime to look about.
My first concern, other than the fact that they had such a large menu (5 or 6 pages) was that much of it was redacted or edited, and I get it, inflation/shrinkflation blah blah, but, it takes moments to pull that document up on Word and clean that up and print it back out. Long short. I took my time making a choice mostly so the lady behind the counter could finish rotating the salad bar, then just settled on a large Pepperoni and at $6 single go at the salad bar for my dad. (He likes salad bars).
While reading the menu and ordering my mom and my wife individually came up to ask for a side towel so they could wipe down the table they had chosen that was away from the general populous so our presence wouldn't offend the other patrons. The table had been cleared but it was tacky to the touch as if someone had spilt something and then just wiped it up and let it dry. The lady taking my order said she'd be right over to take care of it and that she just cleared that spot but hadn't taken the time to wipe it down, which to me, again a person who's worked FS from 16 to 30, knows that once you bus you wipe the table down then reset for service. I don't know, maybe she was new.
When I go to the table I can instantly see what the concern was about. The table was indeed tacky. But not because it was dirty. Because it was too clean. I can see it on all the tables there. The finish on the table tops was and IS being stripped. How? Well, the top two approved sanitizers for restaurants and kitchens are bleach and QACs. You gotta use one or the other as they may never mix. And you can't just use it willy-nilly, you have to have an appropriate concentration. 50 to 200ppm. And 200 is pushing it. Needless the say the concentration of solution on this bleach towel was way too strong and they're melting the tables.
Seats need love and the windows were dusty with dead bugs in them.
There are 2 arcades, one for kids. And the one with VLT's which I think are the only things keeping that place afloat. People wanna gamble. But lets talk about the for kids games. 2 driving games that are almost as old as me. 2 shooting games that are also crazy dated, and a pinball table. All $0.50 per play with the exception of the new of the 2 driving games which was a $1. Then just outside the arcade area there is a crane game and a stack the blocks "Skill" game. We didn't try the stack game as the prizes weren't anything to write home about. The crane game on the other had had something that my kid thought were worth the effort. I know that in most cases the games aren't owned by the stores they are housed in, simply leasing that space for a percentage of profits. But the prizes were off in this machine. stuffed animals of inconsistent size and weights. Containers of bubbles. Weird stuff. And to make matters worse the claw was too small to grab anything that was in there let alone hold onto it. So we lost 3 times. 2 on the crane game and 1 time on my kid's melt down about the games being rigged.
Bathrooms: The Men's room is Bad. Strong strong smell of urine. broken off auto flush actuator on the urinal. Symbols carved and drawn into the walls. The drain in the floor was caked over with some sort of black... something. Not great.
Lastly Service: I'm 50/50 on this. They're friendly. But they for sure work at their own pace. The Pizza was well prepared and the size was reasonable for the price, I've spent more for less at other Pizza Companies in the area. But they gave me flimsy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, this place has been struggling the last few years and I thought they turned the corner. Last week we got a pizza and it was ok. Tonight, we ordered a pizza to go, and even though the food was ok, the service was lacking. My son and I walked in to pickup our pizza that we had called in. We were the only folks in the business besides the workers. While I was signing my the credit card recipt, the guy behind the counter let out a very loud burp. He obviously thought it was funny, because he was laughing about it. One of the other employees said something and the burper said " I drank a lot of soda". I picked up my pizza and cheese bread, and told him that if I hadn't already paid for my food, I wouldn't pay for it. His response wasn't sorry, but "I have acid reflux", and he continued to laugh. Really, that was the best thing you could come up with.
The sad thing about this is, this place is trying to make a comeback from terrible food, and I think they are doing ok. But people like this can really make a business look bad. Unfortunately, I did...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had such a mixed experience. Just moved to the area so we decided to yet this place out. Very friendly staff. Ordered a pizza and Alfredo pasta. They were busy so we expected a wait, but after about 45 mind I saw our pizza was dinner but not the pasta so it was sitting out waiting. No big deal but then i watch the guy start to bring our pizza out then realising no pasta was with it. Goes behind the counter as they all try to figure out where it went. Realise they gave it to another customer. Still no big deal things happen, they start another order. Mind you they haven't said a word to us I just overheard this going on. About an hour and 20 mins after ordering we finally get our food. The guy laughs and says sorry about the wait and leaves. At least the pasta was warm? Underwhelming but edible. Pizza was ok for being lukewarm. Will try again but definitely when we're not in a hurry, or...
