My wife and I were on our way home from Springfield looking for a place to eat on Fathers Day. We saw the DQ and were going to go there. Then I saw the Sunrise Cafe on the other side. We like finding little cafes the choice was easy. They were packed, we waited 10 minutes before getting in. Tables are close together so the waitresses had to walk sideways to get through. Because of this I was really impressed with how cheerful and fast the waitresses were with these obstacles. My wife ordered the taco salad, I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy plus 2 eggs over easy. Food came quickly considering how busy they were. 1st thing I noticed was how big the portions were. Experience has been large portions equal lesser quality. Not the case here. The biscuits were obviously homemade flaky and light. The sausage gravy was delicious but the real star for me was the eggs. I'm very picky about my over easy eggs often disappointed. These were perfect no uncooked whites or hard yokes here. Simply perfect. My wife's taco salad had a very delicious surprise. Homemade tortilla chips. Who does that? Sunrise Cafe does, that's who. It was a obvious that EVERYONE who works there takes pride in their product. Oh another surprise was the bill. It was the least expensive meal we had in 4 days of traveling the area. And easily the best. Whenever we are in the greater Springfield area the Sunrise Cafe will be...

My family and I were traveling from Arizona to Oregon. We needed a restroom and some caffeine to keep us awake, as we were traveling in separate vehicles. Very unique experience, one may say like a scene straight out of a horror movie. Upon our arrival, as soon as we stepped foot, everyone stopped and looked our way. No smile, just a blank stare. We proceeded towards the back of the cafe and asked one of the waitresses where the bathroom was. She pointed towards the bathrooms and then grabbed some menus, assuming we were there to eat. My wife lets her know we would just like 3 coffee's. In annoyance, the waitress let out an "ugh" went to the back to make our coffee's. As she's making the coffee's my wife can see her from her angle talking to another waitress. Based on their body language and vibe, it was pretty obvious they were not happy with our presence. Once she brought the coffee's out, she gave us the total and collected our money, and said nothing. As we all finished using their facilities, we proceeded to walk out and thanked the cafe staff for everything. No words followed. Needless to say, although thankful for their "service," we will not be...

We are locals and have lived here two years and didn't even think about stopping at that little cafe, don't judge a book by its cover. The first time we went there was to try dinner we thought ok prices seem a little steep for a good dinner but were here so lets give it a try, And let me tell you ever since then we go at least once a week for dinner and 2-3 times a month for breakfast! The food is amazing they really deserve to have a bigger location its fine dining. And randy is the best chef there and comes up with the greastest food specials to make... Thats why i love it .. they have there menu but he also prepares a special board with NEW items its GREAT! My fav is All you can eat Halibut night! holy crap its batter is amazing and homeaid dill tarter sauce A++++ Try them out! meals between 8-12 bucks for large amounts of tasteful food. GREAT PEOPLE destiny`...

We had a perfect experience at the Sunrise Cafe today. Couldn’t help feeling nostalgic, as if Andy Griffith was going to come through the door any second. It’s not like anyone’s trying for the throwback effect—just that this place is the real deal. The menu is quite extensive and the two cooks, visible from our seats, seemed like real pros. Service, staff, food were all a cut above. Christian was our waiter, got everything right, anticipated our needs and was great throughout. We have a farm house and barn property down the road that we VRBO. We passed by this place for the past two years, whenever we’re in town from our home in Southern California. Glad we stopped in. Our guests will want to know about the Sunshine Cafe.

A classic American diner vibe with excellent service & sizeable portions. I’m a local to Dexter for two years & finally stopped at this Pleasant Hill Classic with some friends. One friend ordered a Mediterranean scramble and loved it, I got the Philly cheesesteak and it was delicious. The hot chocolates are MASSIVE! Be warned. The service was amazing and our waitress tended to us with speed and grace, even while training a new hire. The food is definitely soul food vibe && a sweet spot indeed.

First time eating at the Sunrise Cafe and it did not disappoint. I had the “build your own Benedict” with a side of biscuits and gravy. If my Cardiologist is reading this don’t despair it was only a small portion. Service was great and they kept the coffee topped off. If you are ever headed east if the mountains stop off for breakfast, it is worth going 45 minutes earlier.
