My wife and I were on our way home from Springfield looking for a place to eat on Fathers Day. We saw the DQ and were going to go there. Then I saw the Sunrise Cafe on the other side. We like finding little cafes the choice was easy. They were packed, we waited 10 minutes before getting in. Tables are close together so the waitresses had to walk sideways to get through. Because of this I was really impressed with how cheerful and fast the waitresses were with these obstacles. My wife ordered the taco salad, I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy plus 2 eggs over easy. Food came quickly considering how busy they were. 1st thing I noticed was how big the portions were. Experience has been large portions equal lesser quality. Not the case here. The biscuits were obviously homemade flaky and light. The sausage gravy was delicious but the real star for me was the eggs. I'm very picky about my over easy eggs often disappointed. These were perfect no uncooked whites or hard yokes here. Simply perfect. My wife's taco salad had a very delicious surprise. Homemade tortilla chips. Who does that? Sunrise Cafe does, that's who. It was a obvious that EVERYONE who works there takes pride in their product. Oh another surprise was the bill. It was the least expensive meal we had in 4 days of traveling the area. And easily the best. Whenever we are in the greater Springfield area the Sunrise Cafe will be...
Read moreMy family and I were traveling from Arizona to Oregon. We needed a restroom and some caffeine to keep us awake, as we were traveling in separate vehicles. Very unique experience, one may say like a scene straight out of a horror movie. Upon our arrival, as soon as we stepped foot, everyone stopped and looked our way. No smile, just a blank stare. We proceeded towards the back of the cafe and asked one of the waitresses where the bathroom was. She pointed towards the bathrooms and then grabbed some menus, assuming we were there to eat. My wife lets her know we would just like 3 coffee's. In annoyance, the waitress let out an "ugh" went to the back to make our coffee's. As she's making the coffee's my wife can see her from her angle talking to another waitress. Based on their body language and vibe, it was pretty obvious they were not happy with our presence. Once she brought the coffee's out, she gave us the total and collected our money, and said nothing. As we all finished using their facilities, we proceeded to walk out and thanked the cafe staff for everything. No words followed. Needless to say, although thankful for their "service," we will not be...
