I had seen this place the past few years on my annual drive through my home community of Pleasant Hill, OR. Never in my wildest imagination did I think Pleasant Hill would have a culinary delight that is the Cioppino House. I finally made a reservation this summer. The food was excellent, although the subtleties of the tiger prawn and scallop fettucine was probably beyond my now-Midwestern palate. Next time I'll order the Cioppino or a steak. The carrot cake was delicious, too. I liked the dipping sauce for the bread. The server, Jada, was excellent. She was attentive but not intrusive. The new owner, Summer, conversed with all of the customers. I enjoyed our conversation. Long-time devotees of The Cioppino House need not worry about the change in ownership. The original owner was there taking orders. I imagine this restaurant's biggest challenge will be to find a larger venue to accommodate the crowd. With tip, my meal (no drinks) ran $50, but this is very reasonable considering the quality (and quantity) of the food and attentive service. I don't drink wine, but it appeared they had an excellent selection. You should make a reservation ahead of time, as the place fills up...
Read moreThis was our second visit, and it was as wonderful as the first.
Tonight, we shared the antipasto plate, and I had the Mediterranean Pasta, my wife had the sea scallops.
While mine was a touch salty, I am also very sensitive to salt. For the average person, it was probably sublime.
The scallops are where this place really shines. I have had sea scallops in three different preparations, now, from them.
Every single one brought to that perfect point of doneness, where cooked through, but sublimely tender, without a hint of toughness.
Their desserts, as far as I have tried are decadent and sensuous.
And, I would be remiss were I not to mention the lovely dip that they provide with the bread. It is a tomato and garlic puree, submerged under a layer of robust, flavorful olive oil. The spice of the garlic, the acid of the tomato, and the olive oil blend into something incredible. I would go and gorge on the bread and dip, alone.
If you haven't tried this establishment, you absolutely should.
Do make reservations, if possible, because they can...
Read moreMy boyfriend surprised me with reservations here for our anniversary back in December. It immediately became my favorite restaurant, and we’ve been back a few times since. Their complimentary bread and the sauce they serve alongside it is absolutely amazing. You can tell a lot of thought went into every dish and you feel so good after eating here. You can’t go wrong, whatever you order will be well worth it. The seafood is fresh and quality, cooked to perfection as well as the steak. The carrot cake (not pictured sadly) has little pieces of crystallized ginger, the cheesecake is so delightfully creamy. All the apps we’ve tried have been amazing, and they will split the dinner salads in half upon request and they make lovely appetizers that way too. We haven’t tried their other salads yet because we’re so obsessed with the beet salad, but I’m sure as with everything else they’ll be the closest to perfection human...
