Mi Pueblo was mine and my family’s go to Mexican restaurant in Happy Valley/Clackamas. However, that will not longer be the case after tonight’s service and what I was served. I waited over 5 minutes before being acknowledged. When I finally was, “we will be with you in a minute!” Another 3-4 mins later I finally got to place my order to go. I ordered the Pollo Fundido...I asked for no rice, but to sub a side of lettuce and pick de gallo. I was told we can’t do that because of coat, but can give you more rice or beans. Supposedly iceberg lettuce and pico is more costly! I asked for a side of diablo sauce and was told no again, even after I said I would pay for it. By the way the side of pico was $3.50, and my pollo fundido was $16. I waited a additional 20 minutes. I took my food home...I opened the aluminum container to see dried up beans, and a small chicken breast with a teaspoon of guacamole, and a pinch of cheese. The sauce was watery, the chicken was rubbery, bland, with 0 flavor! After the rude service I should have said “forget my order,” and gone to Muchas Gracias instead. Even when we had come prior the service has been mediocre. My family dined here at least once a month. I will not be returning to this establishment after today, and will not be referring any of our friends or family. I don’t need a reply from the owner or management. I/we not be returning. We will be going back to the Mexican restaurant on Sunnyside across from...
Read moreHoly **!! I have a new favorite Mexican restaurant. Starting at the beginning: my first bite of the chips and salsa left me briefly concerned. The salsa has a light flavor that I initially mistook for bland, but with each bite the flavor and the heat built and I realized the salsa was subtle so as to not overpower the chips. Those chips seem to be made from their homemade corn tortillas and were super fresh. And btw, definitely order the corn tortillas! It doesn't taste like any other restaurant table salsa. It has a slightly sweet underbite. Almost like a slight hint of enchilada sauce in it. Then the main course came. Carne asada, taquitos and a chili relleno. The rice was fluffy and perfectly seasoned. The Carne asada was perfectly marinated and perfectly cooked. Tender and bursting with flavor. The taquitos were also homemade with a wonderful shredded beef. The chili relleno was fork tender and very cheesy and the batter was light and airy with its own wonderful flavor. Refried beans are always my favorite part of the meal and these didn't disappoint, although my taste buds were still riding such a high from the Carne asada I forgot to savor them. I told the very attentive waitress to expect to see me at least once a week. Don't miss this place of you're in the area like I...
Read moreI want to like this restaurant. It's really beautifully decorated, warm and inviting. The server was very nice and did a great job and the homemade corn tortillas were excellent. I give more than one star because of this.
But the plate of enchiladas I got was cold. Like completely cold. Typically a Mexican meal of enchiladas would come on an extremely hot plate. Maybe they forgot to heat it up?
Also the ground beef enchiladas had no cheese on them and only a thin layer of sauce, so they were dry. I tasted the beef and it tasted like cooked ground beef. No spices.
The rice was bland like maybe cooked with some Sason to give it an orange color but tasted like plain rice.
The beans were the same. Tasted like they came out of a Rosarita can.
Everything was extremely bland.
The only bright spot were the incredible homemade corn tortillas.
I don't usually leave bad reviews even if I don't like the food. But in this case, I don't mind spending time writing this up with the positive intention that they could improve their offerings.
I...
