Latter-Day Cafe — Restaurant in Orem

I hate leaving a bad review, especially if someone was just having a bad night. But my friend and I came in. The woman working was finishing making a couple of drinks. We ordered ours and she immediately sat back down. We hadn’t been here before so I was thinking, maybe it had to brew? I don’t know how this works. I ended up ordering a second drink to bring home to my husband and it was almost immediately made and brought to me (I thought it was my first drink until I tasted it). We literally waited 20-25 mins (kept looking at the barista too) and it was getting close to closing time so I went back up and asked how long our other drinks will be. She had no idea what I was talking about. She pulled up the orders and had just made some iced drinks someone placed for pickup and asked if those were them. I told her no, they were two hot drinks. I had to tell her what they were. She immediately made them and gave us the largest size to make up for it. But it was still just such a weird situation. Again, she just immediately sat down after we placed our order. There was no one else in the vicinity waiting for an order besides us. I don’t get how that happens.

The drinks themselves taste good. We were just disappointed in the service.

I was reading other low-rating reviews to see if this happened to anyone else and the owner seems to reply to many of the bad ones saying they are fake (and very well could be), but I couldn’t make this...

It has been officially one month since I placed an order of their at-home “espresso” capomo. Despite communication being decent throughout my attempt to actually receive my order, I was made promise time and time again that my order would be delivered “within 3-5 days”. This did not happen. They did offer me a full refund, which I am grateful for, but the false promises of “3-5 day delivery” really irked me. I was planning to wait to review until I received the actual product to see if it had redeeming qualities, but I’ve gotten rightfully impatient after hitting the one-month mark. There is absolutely no excuse for something I ordered on August 31st to still not be delivered by October 1st. Wish I could’ve left a better review, but there is no way I could comfortably leave a “good one” after this experience.

EDIT: 11/09/22 Okay y’all I’m back again, after a little over 2 months, I received some of my order? It was very confusing to receive but after getting the product and giving it a try, wow. I am actually impressed! I will increase my rating and probably order again soon. I hope that the quality/speed of your shipping has improved these...

Wanted to try Latter Day Cafe out and see what it is all about. We bought a 12oz pumpkin "latte" and a 12oz caramel frappe. I found it pretty expensive and not sure I would spend that amount regularly on these type of drinks for the sizes we got. It definitely doesn't taste like coffee, it doesn't even taste similar to coffee. I'm not sure it taste like anything specific for me to describe. It is located in the middle of all BYU apartments with students walking around, so it's definitely targeted to the BYU students, which is fun for them. It was clean inside and out too. It wasn't my cup of "coffee" but I'm sure others might enjoy it for something different.

Update: Owner replied and apologized for me not liking it and offered a refund, which is very thoughtful. I'm not interested in a refund but just sharing my opinion so others aren't disappointed. I think the idea is great for those not wanting coffee. I was just hoping for a taste that lived up...
