Updated review: I think the quality has gone down since this location opened. They've removed selections that I really liked: pork jowl and marinated pork chop.
The replacement grills we got were already greasy a couple of times and the quality of the sides and marinated meat have noticeably gone down. Portion sizes have also gone down.
This place was good but the service at this location is not the best in Utah KBBQ. I'm not sure how things are like in the Midvale location these days but I have started going to Seoul Meat Co. in Riverton more so these days because of their superior meat selection and service, despite the significant cost difference.
With the new H-Mart open, it really doesn't make sense to go to KOU considering you can the meat cuts that have historically been lacking in Utah butcheries.
Original review based on the first couple of months: My family and I have been regulars at KOU in Midvale for years. The individual order option makes the meal much more affordable ($25-28 per person after tip) than most kbbq options in Utah which require all you can eat which is like $40 per person these days after tip. I feel like at those prices, they’ve become more expensive than some kbbq restaurants in LA.
I’ve gotten consistent good service and I like their meat options. They had some cuts that I liked in the past that they no longer offer but I am happy with what I can get whenever I go, which is about every other week.
The Orem location has better ventilation but less alcohol options probably due to the limited choice in Utah county’s liquor stores (no soju).
KOU is great and I hope they...
Read moreMy friends and I have loved going to the Midvale location with friends for years now. When this Orem location opened up and it was closer to us, we knew we had to try it and it did NOT disappoint!!!
If you’re new to Korean BBQ, this is a great place to get aquatinted with the delicious food. I love the beef bulgogi and the galbi short ribs, but literally everything is good.
There were a few new surprises for us compared to our experience at the Midvale location. We really liked the wet towels they had so we could regularly clean off the grill in between stuff instead of needing it changed out, and at the end of the meal we were SO excited to be surprised with delicious Korean chocolate popsicles. Also, they have a deal going for students right now for 50% with your student ID until March 31st, which made the meal WAY affordable for us!!!
Aside from the discount, this place is a bit spendy. However, it’s SO worth it if you have the money to throw around or if it’s a special occasion. If I could I would eat here like...
Read moreUpdate: they told me theyd cover for me and another person to makeup for the inconvenience to find out that they couldnt honor it because they got a new manager. For the dining experience they put us at a table where the grill didnt even work and said that it would take time to cook. The table right next to us came after us and their food was cooked before ours. The waitress was accomodating but overall it wasnt enough to recover from the bad experience overall
I arrived at 8:30pm thinking that we would have an hour to eat. But to my surprise the waiter stopped us at the entrance saying they stopped seating at 8:15pm and that they close at 9pm. I was really disappointed and upset because google said they closed at 9:30pm. Maybe update your hours on google and that you stop...
