WEDNESDAY KIDS EAT FREE SALCHIPAPA – BUT BE AWARE OF THIS FIRST
I go to Peru 51 with my whole family all the time, and I usually recommend them to friends and family. But this Wednesday, we went for the “Kids Eat Free Salchipapa” promotion, and things did not go as expected.
I went with my sister, her husband, their 3 kids (plus a 6-month-old), and my 3 kids (including my 2-year-old). At first, they confirmed the promotion, but then they kept adding conditions:
The free salchipapa only applies if you order food from the regular menu, not the daily specials. → We agreed and bought from the menu.
The free salchipapa is one per adult, not per child. → We agreed and added two more salchipapas.
The free salchipapa is only for kids 8 years old and under.
When they finally brought the food, it was disappointing. They served 2 regular salchipapas (fries and hot dogs with sauces on the side), but the 3 kids’ portions came with all the sauces poured on top. Our kids were really hungry, but they don’t like fries covered in sauces (and honestly, I don’t think most kids do).
We told the waiter that the kids wouldn’t eat them like that. She just said, “That’s how we serve the free kids’ meals.” My brother-in-law even spoke to the owner, and his response was: “What do you want me to do?”
That’s terrible customer service 😒. Even the street vendors selling salchipapas ask you which sauces you want. And for ceviche, they always ask if you want it spicy or not.
In the end, they gave us 2 salchipapas with sauces on the side and 1 still with everything on top—but none of the kids ate that one.
I was honestly just expecting a small kids’ portion, not huge plates they would waste. It seems like they thought they had to serve us gigantic free salchipapas but it's not what we were...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but the experience my family and I had at Peru 51 was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. From start to finish, we were treated like an afterthought. There were two waitresses working, one thinner and one heavier set. The heavier set one took our order but somehow completely forgot my mother’s plate. We clearly stated what we wanted, and when we asked about it later, she looked completely unbothered, simply said “oh,” and smiled to herself like it was funny. We weren’t even given utensils until we had to call her over multiple times, and every interaction felt like we were bothering her. Her attitude was consistently rude and dismissive. I’ve never seen such poor customer service, no accountability, no apology, and no basic courtesy. To make things worse, I ordered the anticuchos plate to go, and when I opened it, I couldn’t believe how small and miserable the portion was. For nearly $23, I received ten tiny pieces of corn and a slice of sweet potato the size of a coin. It was honestly insulting. Their prices are ridiculously high for the quality and portions they offer, and it’s made even worse by the unprofessional and disrespectful staff. Peru 51 used to be decent, but the service has gone completely downhill, especially with the specific waitress (heavier set) who acted like every basic task was an inconvenience. If you’re going to charge a high amount of prices, then start OFFERING excellent service. If a staff member can’t handle the SIMPLEST customer requests without attitude, they shouldn’t be in the...
Read moreI was craving peruvian food and based on the reviews, my friend and I decided to check out Peru 51; however, we had an unpleasant experience with this restaurant.
My friend and I ordered Pollo a la Brasa, which includes french fries, salad and dressings. Everything looked good until I took a bite of the chicken. It was raw! I communicated this issue with the server, to which he said that the cooktion time for every chicken was 1.5 hr and that they could not take back the chicken. I communicated the issue with the owner, to which he said he will take a look a it. He took the raw chicken into the kitchen and not later than 10 minutes, he came back with the same raw chicken but on a different plate!!
I showed the server the plate of raw chicken next to a piece of cooked chicken so that he could see that I was served the same raw chicken but with a different plate. He responded by asking the customer in line if he considered the pieces of chicken raw? To which the customer agreed with me.
It was a very unfortunate experience and we will not be coming to this place! The pieces of cooked chicken that we received tasted delicious as well as the fries. This restaurant serves food with flavor but lacks good...
