K, first of all, understand that the actors are great. Every time I've gone to a performance, the acting is excellent for a community theater.
It's the directors, administrators and play writes who don't know what they're doing and it leads to the most underwhelming performances put on in Utah (yes, I do go to theaters up and down Utah). To give an example, the last time I went to their production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, I was able to turn to my companion and dance the entire routine because they had stolen the choreography from another theater's production of it that I had been part of.
You need to understand that everyone in Utah County theatre circles knows that the only people who say anything good about this place's shows are people from the city, Scera's rich investors, the theater or family members of people involved in productions. That makes pretty much all of these comments you read here bogus (yes, I know a lot of these people I read comments from, and they are so full of themselves). So keep that in mind when reading these reviews. This place lacks A LOT in their understanding of what makes a good show. I have gone to better performances at junior high. I have been to MANY performances at Scera. I started going because I was excited to see people I knew in them, then it eventually turned into me groaning every time someone in my family wanted to go or got into a show. I still go to this place, I go always wanting to like the productions they do, but they just don't get it. THE ONLY time their productions are of any quality is when a professional touring performer comes in, and even then I'm surprised that Scera hasn't tried to take credit for the performer's success.
The only reason this place gets any notoriety is because of its rich investors, proud city officials and pompous administrators.
I've been to community theaters from Logan to St. George, and this is the one I know I can count on ALWAYS being lacking. It's straight up disappointing and lacking in every possible way except for the acting. Unfortunately, actors need the others involved in their productions to be as good, and they are not. This is a place that if a company ever bought them out, the only people who wouldn't be fired and replaced would be the volunteer actors who have to put up with...

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the Scera Outdoor theater and was absolutely blown away by the entire experience. The staff here is incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere from the moment we arrived.
The scenic backdrop of the theater is simply breathtaking. With the mountains as the backdrop, watching a play under the open sky added a magical touch to the entire evening. It's a perfect blend of entertainment and nature's wonders.
What pleasantly surprised me the most were the affordable prices. The tickets were reasonably priced, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy quality entertainment. I appreciated that they have managed to keep the prices affordable without compromising on the overall experience.
The concessions stand was well-stocked and had a great variety of options, including Jimmy John’s and Papa John’s. The snacks were delicious, and they had something for everyone.
One aspect that stood out to me was how family-friendly everything was. The theater created an environment where families could relax and enjoy movies together. They provided a safe and inclusive space where parents and children could create lasting memories.
Overall, my experience at the Scera Outdoor theater was nothing short of exceptional. The super friendly staff, amazing scenic backdrop, affordable prices, and family-friendly atmosphere all contributed to an unforgettable evening. I highly recommend this theater to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable cinematic experience. It's a gem that deserves all the praise...
