I was in Colorado and missing Hawaii when a search found a Yummy’s Korean BBQ in Orem, UT. We made it a stop on our summer trip and drove from Victor, ID to Orem, UT arriving about 30 minutes before closing to have some great food! YAY for the 2-hour parking spaces for retail customers! It’s an interesting area that looks like there are apartments on top of retail spaces. How convenient! The staff was super awesome and friendly! We ordered the beef bulgogi and chicken katsu which came with all of the sides. We also got an appetizer order of japchae and some Coke Zeros. We couldn’t eat it all AND have dessert, so we got a to-go box and ordered the Ho-Teuk Ice Cream ~ a cinnamon pancake with ice cream and chocolate. It was all delicious. We didn’t go for the cook at your table option (which is such fun). There’s an all-you-can-eat option, but … we weren’t up for that, but please eat all the things for me and post how yummy they were! We met the manager/owner and talked about living in Hawaii, that she was also a math teacher, and that we all love to travel. We showed her photos of our trip, which included Mount Rushmore and she showed us a picture from Zion National Park. We haven’t been there, yet! She also shared that some of the artwork in the restaurant is over 100 years old and the piece in the entryway was painted by a happy customer. They have 3 new locations listed as coming soon. I liked that Groupon has a sushi making class deal. They also have a Korean language class at the restaurant! (The only thing I’m good at is saying thank you in Korean.) While we were talking, she mentioned that they have a food truck that goes to Colorado … how do we find that?!? Inquiring minds want to know! (Hawaiians Living in Colorado Facebook Group) UPDATE: Whoops! No food truck to Colorado. Sorry! I can't edit all of the posts! There was a Pokemon Go gym within easy reach of the restaurant.

Wow. Now this place is good. It does right what all the others don't. What sets it apart from E-GA in Springville and other AYCE Korean BBQ around here? 1. The grills get very hot, very fast. This is key to good KBBQ. Grills that don't get hot enough don't give you the flavor you want. 2. They give you the proper tools - good scissors and good tongs. These make the grill-it-yourself experience MUCH better. 3. The service is impeccable. Waiters and staff are patient and personable. (Kudos to Trent, our waiter, who was awesome!) Sun, the owner, is super genuine and seems to make an effort to stay in view and occasionally go table to table serving patrons personally. 4. The meats are all great, as are the banchan. The Kimchi is made in house. I'd prefer it to be A LITTLE less sweet, but it is still fantastic. 5. The ambiance feels really nice. It's spacious and open yet cozy, and you have a great view of the chef's preparing the food behind the counter. ***DOWNSIDE - don't worry, there's only one. It's an awesome restaurant that deserves 5 stars nonetheless, but this one is a biggie: It is missing the 2 most crucial side dishes (banchan) in Korean BBQ. These 2 side dishes, along with Kimchi (which they do have), provide the perfect counter to the greasiness of the meat and help balance the meal even more so. They are both onion based side dishes - one is white onion and the other scallion, both in some sort of sauce/dressing. *I've attached pics of both side dishes below. I don’t remember the names. The one with scallions might be called Pa muchim? It is my fervent prayer that Yummy's will join the ranks of LA's Korean BBQ as well as Korea's Korean BBQ and offer these two side dishes. Until then, it's still amazing and I'll still go often. I'll just go MORE often when that time comes.

Came here for a team lunch and I have to say it was probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in recent memory. An extra layer of sadness came because of all the hype from other reviews. For whatever reason I was feeling daring and wanted to try some sushi...after inquiring about a roll, our server informed me that they were not serving sushi that day due to a missing shipment or something....ok I mean it is on the sign but whatever I can pivot to a different choice. Let me start by saying: if I’m paying for a meal, the LAST thing I want to do is cook it myself (crazy, right?) so a combination of that view and in the interest of time, I opted for a dish that was ALREADY COOKED with rice, veggies and a poached egg on top. In a nearly empty restaurant, we waited nearly an hour after getting our drinks (one member of my party actually had to ask for a “to go” box because the food took so long), for food to arrive. And let me tell you, everything but the top layer of my meal was burnt to a crisp. Now, I’m a lousy cook, but even I wouldn’t have burned my food (had I cooked it myself). By this time I ate what I could salvage and made a mental note to never come back. As always, local Utahans will give Yummy’s high reviews because it’s new and international OH MY! I’m telling you: save your money and go elsewhere. Bad service, disappointing food. **edit for yummy’s response** Thanks for your pointed reply. I visited on November 1 and NO sushi was not being served that day and a good chunk of our group wanted sushi. Also in regards to cooking my own food: I wish I HAD. Because when y’all cooked it in the kitchen, it came out 90% burned. Yikes.

Let's make an edit, shall we? In response to the owner's response. My personal recommendation is to not go here if you have any sort of voucher or promotional item. In our case it was not honored, we were under the impression that this would still be applicable based on how the "fine print" was worded on the Groupon which says "The amount paid never expires." Which per Groupon's website, this indicator in the fine print says that the Groupon is still valid after the expiration date...

First time there for me and several other relatives. Was recommended by my brother and his family who were repeat customers driving from up the Syracuse area. Don't know what one overwhelmed employee said to his boss, suddenly as we were starting our meal, an older man who stated he was the owner shocked us with his strong words, hard face, and loud voice, as if backing up his exhausted and obviously burned out server, who had just left our table without anything we could have suspected...
