I just discovered Gs pizzeria and was instantly hooked by one surprising dish on the menu, their mac and cheese. It had an incredible smoky flavor, rich, creamy and just different enough to make it unforgettable. It wasn't just a side dish, it was the reason I couldn't stop thinking about the place for days afterwards. Naturally I went back, specifically for that mac and cheese. Unfortunately, I found out they had recently changed their menu. The new version is still good, but much more standard. It was missing that unique smokiness that made it stand out. It's solid comfort food, but no longer something I'd go out of my way for. That said, I also tried their pizza during my second visit, and would highly recommend it. Crispy crust, quality toppings, and just the right balance of flavor. If pizza is your thing, G's definitely delivers.
As far as the service, the first time, our waitress was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better but the second time the waiter barely acknowledged us, didn't offer drink refills, barely spoke when he delivered the food and even dropped the to-go boxes off on the table before we finished eating without saying a word. It felt rushed and careless. Because of the two very different visits, it's honestly hard to rate the service depending who you get.
Overalls, G's makes great pizza, but what drew me back was that incredible mac and cheese. If it ever returns in its original form, I'll be the first in line. I'll definitely be back for the pizza. But I won't be coming back nearly as often as I would have if they'd kept the original mac and cheese on the menu. Their mac and cheese gave the Clarkston Union a run for...
Read moreG's Pizzeria in Lake Orion is an expensive place to eat when you factor in the big picture. We live adjacent from the restaurant. On 6 occasions we ordered carry-out. 1st time I ordered pasta and meat balls. I ask if the meat balls are homemade Daily. They said that they were. Well, the pasta was mushy, the sauce was right out of a can and the meat balls were clearly frozen and dense without texture or any home style substance, like onions or celery, garlic They were like meat baseballs. Since we lived for 4 months at the hotel next door, we tried a few more times. we were never pleased but we lived close by and were forced to try again hoping we were just having bad luck. On one occasion we ordered a chicken Caesar salad.the chicken was overcooked and hard. We, on another occasion ordered chicken wings and as usual they were sloppy and wet without any sign of being properly sauteed. They seemed boiled and then just dumped in sauce. The last chance we gave them was yesterday we ordered two burgers medium broiled. we got a tightly sealed to go bag and after walking back 20 yards to our room, we found two burgers well done/ burnt. We called to complain and were giving a replacement order not much better. We are done with this place and will never recommend it. I suppose selling booze covers a multitude of sins. Once your'e drunk any old thing will suffice and kill your hunger but I will never patronize from this culinary clown show. Oh! and their Pizza is lacking as well. The one time I ordered a mozzarella it was edible but the price service and expectation of a tip was not worth a 1 star rating. Do yourself a favour and...
Read morei was there yesterday at the lake orion store . My son and wife have celiac disease . Your menu has a gluten free symbol next to gluten free items. We ordered the nacho. The waitress told me the chips are fried in oil that fries battered items. Hence not gluten free. I appreciated her knowledge and being honest. my son starts fifth grade tomorrow and I would hate for him to get sick right before school started. Please change your menu to remove that symbol. Some people with celiac end up in the hospital from ingesting gluten. It’s very serious. I’ll be honest i don’t trust going there after that. On an unrelated note, my wife and i ordered burgers and they were dry and burnt to a crisp. I paid $3 extra for a gluten free bun and got a huge wide thin crispy cauliflower flatbread instead . The waitress said instead of fries (fried in glutened oil) that my son and wife could get side salad. I figured that meant that it would be free because it was replacing the french fries however when I got the receipt we were charged $3.49 for each side salad. she also informed me that the bread was toasted on a grill and which they toast other bread so now I’m concerned that the cauliflower flatbread which looked toasted was actually toasted on the same grill as gluten bread. Just a heads up just trying to advocate for my son and wife because if we don’t advocate for ourselves nothing will...
