It’s only fair to start by saying that I’m Scottish, and Winston’s is an Irish market. The products in a Scottish market vs an Irish market vary slightly, but Winston’s does carry a variety of Scottish products. I go for the lorne sausage, sausage rolls, and if they have a steak and sausage pie, I feel like I lucked out. Also, I specifically look for Scottish bangers. Winston’s carries all of these products and more! I was crestfallen on my last visit because there wasn’t a drop of Irn Bru in the house, and I LOVE Irn Bru! It’s made in Scotland from girders! I did get my lorne, sausage rolls, and Scottish bangers. The store is kept pretty clean for a marketplace carrying a variety of products from the Emerald Isle, and the incredibly high volume of customers whooshing in and out gettin their messages. There’s plenty of parking, and I e quite often seen parents ushering their children around the store, but one thing that’s great about Winston’s is regardless your age, you LOVE the candy aisle! The one thing I can’t ever seem to get my hands on in this store, and I may very well be going about it all wrong, is fresh, not frozen products. A pound of frozen Scottish bangers is great, but I have to thaw the whole pound, and if nobody else is interested in bangers and mash, I need to get creative with the rest, and quickly! If I can indeed ring the business and order in frozen product, please let me know in the comments. I like Winston’s, and I LOVE that there’s a place I can go and get these beloved food stuffs from home. I have always been an omnivore, so I can’t speak on Winston’s ability to accommodate a vegetarian or vegan. Phone ahead if you have questions, I’ve never had a problem talking with anyone there. They’re Irish! They have the...
Read moreI ordered catering, both appetizers, bruschetta and the Elfin Snack tray and the and "The Special" which is the beef, chicken (fried) and mostaccioli which included your choice of potato. I chose the roasted. When I walked in, I was greeting in a welcoming manner. The gal that helped me in catering was super knowledgeable and patient, suggesting quantity and helping me make decisions. The day I needed delivery she explained the drivers and many workers were headed to Milwaukee fest and that no one was available. I understood but to my surprise, the morning of my party, Winston's called me saying they had a driver and they could deliver! Now this is great customer service! I picked up the appetizers earlier before the party and was amazed at how much food there was and the presentation on the trays was superb. Then the main meal was delivered and I can't rave enough about how delicious the meal was. Everyone at my party asked where I got the food from. If you are looking for a great local deli that provides amazing customer service and even more amazing food, I highly...
Read moreI live about 3.5 hours away from Winstons and have been making the trip to their store at least twice a year for 7+ years. It's worth the trip to me just to stock up on their pork sausages (they remind me of Richmond Irish Sausages) and bulk pork sausage meat (to make into scotch eggs). Their shepherds pies are delicious (when they've run out of them before, they've made some specially for me while I waited). They stock a good range of Irish/British groceries: Chocolates and candy (sweets), cookies (biscuits), chips (crisps), cream crackers, canned drinks, clotted or devon cream, mushy peas, baked beans, Heinz and Erin soups, salad cream, brown sauce, gravy granules, frozen loaves of bread, fries (chips), proper childhood-memory-inducing fish fingers and dilute-to-taste fruit drink concentrates. And that's just some of the selection. Lots of variety to fill up a...
