Mixed feelings about this place.
First, it was hot. They had the AC at 80 degrees or something, didn't feel comfortable sitting in a small crowded space with no air conditioning.
Bring Google translate or point at your menu items, the servers all speak Chinese, little English. Then get smug when you can't speak the language. I'm Chinese. I'm fluent, in both languages. Just because I spoke in English, doesn't mean I can't understand you, dipshit.
Food, wwwwaaayyyyy over priced. Specialty drinks, meh, it was all right. The noodles were great, flavor profiles, yeah, great. Free noodle refill, you'll get a stare from judgmental eyes. I'm 6 feet tall, and weigh 225 lbs, I'm a big boy, I like to eat.
You'll see pictures from other reviews of a food bar running the length of the kitchen. They don't use it, wasted space. Everyone is hyped up on hand pulled noodles, but honestly, for Orlando, we're still light years behind on food, regional chinese. We're not talking takeout.
Everyone and their reviews talk about how great they were, for the"first time ever trying hand pulled noodles." Yeah, I get it. Get over it, take it from someone who has and is still in the business, and it's all right.
Am I going back, No. Did I enjoy my meal, somewhat.
Long story short, in the same Plaza, go to East Garden next to Eason. Better spectrum of flavor profiles.
Edit: I decided to go back and try them again. Give them another shot. It doesn't get better. The whole place had to wait 30 minutes because they changed the water in the pot, that they boil their noodles in, became too starchy. Everyone, had to wait for a giant pot of water to get rolling. When it did get rolling, they grabbed their tickets from the machine, and started dipping the tip of the tickets into the broth for the soup, to tack onto the stove, so it doesn't blow away. There were so many violations I noticed, health violations, that were in plain sight. The glass of water they greet you with, the 3 gallon jugs are on the floor, with no lid. Those, pickled veg, peanuts and soy beans that come with your combo meal, they're sitting on the counter all day, until someone orders a combo noodle bowl. Don't be surprised if you get sick from pure negligence.
Language barrier still the same, over crowded, at least the food bar is in use.
Portions have gotten smaller and erratic. The 3rd picture is from the revisit, picture 2 and 3 are of the same item, on 2 different visits. I'll head to 10 seconds a few...
Read moreLet’s start off by stating that there are not many fresh hand pulled noodles in Orlando. This is one of the best hand pulled noodles I’ve had and it’s located in Orlando. This is a Lanzhou hand pull noodles. I had to come back twice to try their different type of hand pulled noodles. Please keep in mind this is still their soft opening period.
Food: with the open kitchen concept, you can tell that they made the noodles fresh from scratch. I end up ordering the classic beef stirred stew with handful noodles and with mild spicy sauce on it but you can have this spicy on the side as needed. I also ordered their handmade dumplings and their skewers as part of the combination. In addition we ordered the hor fun hand pulled noodles, which is their wide noodles. The pricing of these noodle bowls are on the higher side. however they are very generous with portion and you get one free refill of noodles per bowl. From experience the second refill, it will definitely fill you up. I enjoy the broth because it was not salty and very well balanced, and their meat was seasoned very well. 5/5
Service: when I went, it was pretty packed, but we only waited five minutes and they also have a noodle bar where you can sit on the counter and eat there if you’re by yourself. The service is rapidly fast when you place your order in you can get your food within 15 minutes easily. They are very, very organized and attentive to your table. However, they tend to run out of some stuff sometimes even if it’s 5 PM. We understand that since it is a brand new place and they’re still working on the forecasting and training 4.5/5
Atmosphere: it is a very well designed layout and spacious where the tables are separate from each other, and you can have conversation and not be disturbing other people In addition, they have done very good job of showcasing their food via high quality, professional images. 4.5/5
I would definitely come back here again to continue trying the other food and their homemade desserts, but looking forward to see them grow and hopefully they stay consistent with their quality. But they are off to a...
Read moreWe finally visited Walala Asian Noodles in Orlando, and this place truly lives up to the hype. If you are searching for authentic Asian food in Orlando, this restaurant should be at the top of your list. Everything here is made from scratch from the dumpling wrappers to the noodles and you can taste the difference in every single bite.
We started with the dumplings, and they were unforgettable. The dough is rolled to the perfect thickness soft and slightly chewy just enough to hold in the rich, juicy filling without being too heavy. Each fold is made with care, and when you bite into one, the flavor bursts out in the most comforting way.
Then came the noodles, and this is where Walala shines. Watching the chefs stretch, pull, and knife-cut the dough is like seeing food made with true dedication. The texture is what sets them apart: chewy, springy, and perfect for soaking up sauces and broth.
The dish that stole the show was the braised beef short rib stew with knife-cut noodles. The broth was rich, layered, and deeply savory, with tender beef that fell apart effortlessly. The fresh noodles absorbed all that flavor, making every bite both hearty and satisfying.
We also tried the handmade pan-fried buns golden and crisp on the outside, yet soft and fluffy inside. To finish, the beef skewers were smoky, juicy, and perfectly grilled, a great way to round out the meal.
Walala Asian Noodles is not just another noodle shop; it is a place where every detail, from the dough to the broth, is made with patience and love. If you are in Orlando and want fresh, handmade dishes that capture authentic flavor, this restaurant is one I...
