I have gone to this store once nearly every week since I've moved to Florida nine years ago. Aside from routinely not having stock of the (many through the years) items I need after a week or two, the customer service is horrendous. I went to return an appliance today because it was not meeting my expectations at home. The lady who was at customer service (I believe she's an owner or related to the owner) asked what the issue was, I told her, and she offered me a credit. After going through the store and picking up my normal items, I went back to customer service to utilize the credit.
That's when I met the catalyst for this review. I believe he's also an owner, or at least the store manager. He was very adamant that the appliance (It was a water heater) that I brought back was working fine, and kept shoving a thermometer in my face, showing me the temperature while the water was boiling. I told him that's fine and good, but at my house, the water was not KEEPING the temperature, which is the reason I got it. He kept repeating the number on the thermometer and implying I was lying. I told him regardless, it wasn't meeting expectations, and I wanted to return it. Seeing as how the original purchase was 3 or 4 days ago, and according to him, the product was fine, this shouldn't have been an issue.
Finally he snapped at me about getting the credit minus a 20% restocking fee. I told him if that's the policy, that's fine, but that he should let his staff know. I told him this because when I originally purchased the heater, I asked if there would be a problem if I needed to return it,and the cashier told me no. He then shoved the receipt in my face and said it mentions the restock fee on there.
I repeated that it was fine, I didn't care, I just wanted to get my stuff and leave. Then, while the customer service cashier was ringing me up, he brought the thermometer AGAIN. I finally snapped back that I didn't care and that it's over, I didn't want the water heater.
Again, I've been coming here almost every week for nine years. I have NEVER returned an item here before, and am shocked how rude this man was. There is a large Korean Market that opened up recently about 10 minutes away, and I think I'll start shopping there. First Oriental isn't the only oriental market in town.
Edit: Upon reflection, I gave this store one more star. This is due to how good the meat/fish/cooked meat stations are and how well the employees at those stations treat...
Read more2 Stars because up until this recent experience, this location has been fine. Yesterday, my husband and I visited this location to purchase meats and seafood, as we do often. For the first time ever, the Asian employee assisting us seemed shocked that my husband wanted to purchase a large snapper totaling over a hundred dollars. Mind you, we've spent thousands of dollars at this location over the past 15 years, watching it grow from a unorganized market to a thriving staple in the area. Nonetheless, he then prompted us several times to go pay for the fish before he would filet it. Mind you, this never happened in the past and he never gave an explanation as to why there was a policy change. Also, there was no signage that indicated this was a new procedure. Yet, the store proudly posts that you should not tip the employees. We were shocked but complied spending nearly $200 and went to the manager to confirm this new policy. She stated that this was a new "policy" since "other" customers were buying fish and refused to pay after it was cleaned and filleted due to the price. I told her I understood but suggested that they post this because he did not communicate the reason and his demeanor was not customer friendly. When I returned to the seafood counter, he proceeded to filet the fish and forced us to give him the paid receipt (checking it several times). However, there were other people that came to get fish as well, specifically of European and Asian descent. Not one of them was asked to go pay for their fish prior to cleaning and filleting. NOT ONE!! And there were approximately 5 other customers that were served after us. Clearly, there is a bias at this store and the "other" people the manager referred to must have been people of color. I am soooo disappointed. I'd advise other people of color to go across the street to the Caribbean Supercenter because they sell similar items and respect your dollar. Help them to grow and don't accept being mistreated and stereotyped just because the prices are cheaper. Your value is...
Read moreMe and my husband have been coming to Enson for over a year since we've moved here. Absolutely loved it!. Getting a boba and doing our shopping. We've introduced this place to friends and family as well as have mentioned it anytime someone asked where we got certain ingredients for our meals.
Fast forward to Oct 14 when me and my husband went in to stock up. We get stopped at the entrance by the security guard at the entrance. He told me I had to put my purse in the vehicle because they don't allow "big purses" in the store. I was confused as this was never something they did. He did tell me but 2-3 other women kept walking with there "large bags". Me and another customer removed our bags and I handed mine to my husband to take to the car. I mentioned to the security guard that a few other women kept going and he didn't stop them and his response was "there were 5 to 6 people, can't stop everyone" 🤦. My husband mentioned how several people saw him placing my bag in the car of course, and mentioned how easily someone could break into our car knowing there's a bag in there. The whole situation honestly just left a bad taste in our mouths. I should be allowed to do my grocery shopping with my purse. The security guard also picking and choosing who to enforce this rule also left us feeling irritated. So because we weren't walking in a group and didn't just flat out ignore him we were pressed and not allowed to continue walking until we followed the rules while the others did whatever they wanted 🤷. We won't be going back. I am not leaving my bag with all my important documents, medication, car keys etc in the car anytime I go to Enson. My husband is diabetic and needs medication I have in my bag. People keep epi pens, mother's with large baby bags, honestly it goes on and on. They didn't think this through at all. So we are going to go to another location which I do recommend called Lotte Market. Truly hope they remove this ridiculous new rule and find another way to prevent theft because until they do we aren't wasting...
