I came in about 11:50 on Saturday before the lunch rush and placed an order of a southwest omelet wrap and a chia banana boost smoothie. I was up charged an extra dollar for my normal order I have been placing for the last year and asked the cashier why. He had mentioned that as of always, getting both strawberries and peanut butter would be considered an addition and I would be charged for it. I didn't quite understand and only assumed he was a new employee seeing as this has never happened before. It was at this time, Brianna, overheard the situation. I explained to her that if it is a new implementation, that I would adhere to it but was just curious why I was never up charged before. Brianna offered a solution, to put half and half of both amounts and that would remove the upcharge. Great, that works out. She began to ask me if I had tried the whey boost smoothie that has almost the same ingredients. The reason why I found this fascinating is because I have an athletic build, and she saw that and recommended what my needs would be and what I would like. This just shows the type of worker you have, someone that cares for the business and tries their best to help its customers. Finally my food arrives and I leave to meet up with some friends with my lunch in hand. I take two bites of my breakfast wrap and notice something. I have been given the all-American wrap. I call back and speak with Brianna and she is very apologetic that this miscommunication occurred and offers to make a new wrap and asked when I would be coming in. I tell her I would be there in 20 mins. I show up at 12:30pm and the line is almost to the front door. I analyze this and think to myself even if the wait is really worthy enough for the breakfast wrap. Before I come to a decision in my head, Brianna sees me, concludes with the transaction in front of her, and goes to the back and starts my breakfast wrap immediately. Brianna, I really wanted to personally thank you for that experience. The experience of witnessing a hard working individual go above and beyond their duties. I sit here writing this review while finishing my southwest omelet wrap to acknowledge that and in the hopes you get that chance to read this that you understand you are appreciated, not only as a hard worker but more as a human being that applies themself. You will go far with attitude like that and succeed, I count on it. Take...
Read moreI was really disappointed coming here. The service was far below average. The young lady working cashier was extremely rude and appears to hate her job. She did not smile once, and instead of saying hello asked "you ready?.." when I ordered she seemed almost irritated that we were here. Then I asked what chips they had, having not seen the bag display and she rolled her eyes and pointed. When service is bad from the counter it gives the entire environment a bad vibe and sets a negative tone. After my interaction with her I was already over being at Tropical Smoothie and was on the fence about cancelling my order. Obviously I didn't because I was still hungry. I'm not sure why, but when they called my name my food was bagged to-go. This sent a "we don't actually want you here and would like you to leave" kind of message. Seeing as I was never asked if I wanted it to go and I never requested it to go. Let's get to the food, I ordered a King Chicken Caesar wrap. It was folded in a way where it fell apart upon unwrapping it. This would have been an easier fix if I had a basket. None the less, I opened it the wrap up to refold and there were literally 6 little pieces of lettuce. They were cut about half inch thick and an inch and a half long, just to give reference to size. I'm genuinely not sure if I'm the only person like this, but I order wraps because I actually want the lettuce. Not meat and sauce in a tortilla. I told my boyfriend I was going to order more lettuce but he took some out of his Caribbean jerk bowl and put it on my tortilla. He really didn't have any lettuce to spare but was being sweet. Overall, compared to all other Tropical Smoothie Cafes I have been to this fell WAY below the going standard. I'm disappointed to say that this was below even my lowest standards and I try to be understanding to circumstance and be optimistic that just because one step in the process wasn't great, possibly the next would be. In this case the ordering process was awkward and uncomfortable, then the next step in the process being the food was far below expectations. I suggest management re-evaluate their food quality and service standards. Possibly quiz and retrain staff about the food products being sold? Unfortunately, you can't teach people to be nice and have genuine customer service so it might be best to get rid of the bad apples before they spoil the...
Read moreWHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE!?!?!? I've been coming to this location for almost two years; for the first several months service was amazing, orders were made wonderfully and quickly, and it was always a great experience. However, then I noticed staff changes around the end of 2016, and NOT for the better. Their product, quality, order accuracy, basically everything has been going downhill for a while now. I own a business, and I understand good help is hard to find, especially for low wage jobs. With that being said, you can still hire people that care at least a little (this is more geared toward the previous employees than the current ones I dealt with today). I hadn't been in in a few weeks and came in today expecting to see some familiar faces. Nope, the whole staff had quit apparently. Now, it's a bunch of new people running around, fairly lost since they're inexperienced. They tried hard, but they were not what I would call employees that should be on their own. EVERYBODY had issues with their orders, things aren't made as well as they had been previously, and it took FOREVER. This leaves me disappointed in the owner, not the employees. Their attitudes were great, but they need more experience. I understand having basically all employees quit at essentially the same time is stressful, but that's when you step up as an owner and put in the 80 or 90 hour weeks if you need to to make sure everything is being done properly and the employees are getting the hang of the job and doing it right. I would give a one star, aside from the fact that even though the employees were inept they tried hard and were friendly. I'll try again in a couple of weeks due to it being very convenient for me at lunch, but I'm not going to hold...
